URL Shortener lets you turn long links into compact, shareable URLs straight from your toolbar. Click the extension icon to instantly shorten the current tab’s address using trusted services (TinyURL or Bitly). The experience is fast and lightweight—no sign-in required for TinyURL, and Bitly support is available for users who prefer their own API token. Privacy is built in: the extension only uses the “tabs” permission to read the active tab’s URL, and it connects solely to the shortening providers specified in the manifest (tinyurl.com and api-ssl.bitly.com). No page content is read or stored; the URL is sent to the selected service and the shortened link is returned for you to copy and share. Minimal permissions, clear purpose, and a simple popup flow make it ideal for day-to-day sharing, QR placement, social posts, and documentation.
