Dim webpages with a neutral or warm overlay. Per-site control, presets, keyboard shortcut, and a link to more RWS tools.
Dim bright webpages without messing with your monitor.
RWS Screen Shade Lite adds a simple overlay on top of the page you’re viewing, so you can take the glare out of bright sites without changing system settings.
Features
Global or per-site mode – apply the same shade everywhere, or keep different settings per website.
On/off toggle – quickly enable or disable the shade without touching your monitor.
Shade strength slider – adjust opacity from light dimming up to a strong shade, with smooth fade in/out.
Presets – one-click buttons for common levels: 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%.
Color mode: Neutral or Warm – choose a neutral dark overlay, or a warm tint that’s easier on the eyes at night.
Keyboard shortcut – default Ctrl+Shift+S toggles the shade. You can change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Per-site settings (optional) – in “Only on this site” mode, each hostname remembers its own shade on/off and strength.
Reset to defaults – jump back to a clean starting point with one click.
How it works
RWS Screen Shade Lite does not change your monitor brightness or your operating system settings. It simply adds a transparent layer on top of the current page inside the browser, and remembers your settings using Chrome’s local storage.
Privacy
No accounts.
No tracking.
No external servers.
The extension uses:
storage – to save your shade settings (mode, strength, color, per-site options).
tabs – only to read the active tab’s URL so it can apply per-site rules.
Nothing is sent anywhere outside your browser.
