Claude in Chrome (Beta)
Claude is an AI assistant that works directly in your browser, automating tasks and taking actions on your behalf. Use natural conversation to navigate websites, fill forms, extract data, and run multi-step workflows. Available to all paid subscribers.
WHAT'S NEW
After months of testing, Claude in Chrome is now available in beta. Major updates since launch:
- Claude Code integration: Build in terminal, test in browser—Claude Code and Chrome extension work together seamlessly
- Record a workflow: Easily teach Claude your workflow and Claude learns the steps.
- Scheduled tasks: Set recurring browser workflows that run automatically on your schedule
- Planning mode: Approve Claude's plan once, then let it execute independently until complete
- Multi-tab workflows: Claude works across multiple tabs simultaneously—drag tabs into Claude's tab group
- Console logs: Claude reads errors, network requests, and DOM state for debugging
- Control browser actions from Claude Desktop: Start a task in Claude Desktop and let it handle work in the browser without switching windows.
CLAUDE IN YOUR BROWSER
Chat with Claude in the sidebar while browsing any website. Ask Claude to read pages, click buttons, or handle repetitive tasks—all through natural conversation.
- Navigate and organize your inbox and calendar
- Fill forms and handle repetitive data entry
- Extract information from web content
- Run multi-step processes across multiple tabs
- Record common browser workflows and let Claude handle them automatically
FOR DEVELOPERS
Claude Code + Chrome extension unlocks a build-test-fix loop:
- Design verification: Take a Figma mock, build with Claude Code, verify accuracy in browser
- Live debugging: Claude reads console errors and DOM state, then fixes code
- Automated testing: Schedule Claude to verify your site daily and catch regressions
YOU'RE IN CONTROL
Pre-approve actions that Claude can take on websites before you start working. Review Claude's approach once, then let it run. Claude will still ask before taking certain irreversible or potentially harmful actions, like making a purchase.
For Team & Enterprise plans, admins have controls in place to enable/disable the extension org-wide, and an allowlist and blocklist for approved sites.
GETTING STARTED
1. Subscribe to any paid plan
2. Install this extension
3. Sign in with your Claude credentials
4. Open sidebar and describe your task (or record your workflow to teach Claude)
5. Grant permissions when prompted
USE SAFELY
Browser AI can encounter prompt injection—hidden instructions on websites that attempt to hijack Claude's actions. We've built defenses and tested extensively, but recommend these practices:
Start with trusted sites: Grant permissions to familiar websites first
Review sensitive actions: Always confirm before Claude handles financial, personal, or work-critical tasks
Report unexpected behavior: Help us improve by flagging issues through feedback options

Note: Claude in Chrome is not supported on other Chromium-based web browsers or mobile devices.

- Extension connects to Claude Desktop less than 10% of the time even when uninstalling and re-installing. Very unreliable. Would not recommend.

- My company moved over to Claude from GPT and I really can't understand why. I'm asking it to reference materials on public websites and it says that it can't in the desktop app because of Bash settings ... whatever that is ... and so now I'm in the web browser and it says it can't read public sites without the extension. That really doesn't make any sense to me. That isn't required at all for GPT.

- I've installed it but it's not working. Something about a domain restrictions which I don't get.

- "List connected browsers Still no luck — same "not connected" response. The issue is on the Chrome extension/connection side, not something I can fix from here. One thing that sometimes works when nothing else does: fully uninstall and reinstall the extension. The service worker can get into a bad state that reloads don't clear. Otherwise, this might be worth reporting to Anthropic via the thumbs-down button or https://support.claude.com if it persists." This is what I've been experiencing since Tuesday, 28th of April. It just won't connect to Chrome and my work demands that Claude in Chrome works without a glitch. This is so so disappointing.

- Today is the 30th of April and the Claude for Chrome extension isn't working when trying to connect using the desktop app. Support from Anthropic is non-existent.

- When it works, it works, however, 90% of the time with claude code it just does not work, says browser does not connected and GitHub is littered with issues, where Opus himself detects the issue is purely server side. There is even an open claude in chrome extension clean room rebuild which removes the problems, however, you risk Anthropic would ban you for using that, so we are stuck waiting for a fix for months now, it's terrible.

- Suddenly I couldn't connect. It's so inexplicable. I've tried everything, spent hours on it, but it still doesn't work. Singapore Yes, I also suddenly couldn't connect to my browser starting in the afternoon of April 28, 2026, and it's still not working now in the afternoon of April 29. I've tried everything, but nothing works. It's really frustrating.

- I honestly don’t understand the hype around Claude. I subscribed for a month, and my experience has been very disappointing. Even for simple tasks—like viewing or navigating pages—it struggles noticeably. On top of that, the usage limits run out incredibly fast. I also tried using the terminal setup with the TradingView MCP server, and it was extremely slow and expensive for what it delivers. As a trader, this has been especially frustrating. The Opus 4.7 model burns through credits so quickly—you can barely run a couple of searches before hitting limits. For the price, the performance just doesn’t justify the cost. I’ll be canceling my subscription and looking for better alternatives. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend it in its current state.

- Does not work

- Crushes with the new tab opening. Made a fresh setup for a new MacBook from scratch – the same issue, so it's in core of Claude for Chrome, and maybe connected to tabs/bookmarks. Most other plugins were also removed, no luck.
- Jiri Hernik
- It cannot work with half of the websites where I wanna use it. like patreon.com, reddit and many more.
- Nghĩa Nguyễn Tấn
- 1 star. This extension is very disappointing. It gives the impression that users can install it and use Claude easily, but after installing, it is not actually useful without paying. The experience feels misleading and frustrating. A browser extension should be clear about what is free and what requires payment before users install it. Right now, it wastes time and creates a bad first impression. Not recommended unless the pricing and limitations are made much clearer.

- Installed it but it isn't free :(

- very good. does most things I would like. don't uses it for items that need done consistently but has worked great for me.

- Once you signed with a profile it doesnt let you log in with a different one, which make experience disappointing.

- incredible and super helpful in my day to day workflows. wish it better connected with the platform things like projects, folders..etc.. then it would be unstoppable
- Samiha Ali
- Super, makes my tasks easy!
- Kavin Shah
- Great, still rough on the edges I ask it do do different writing tasks, and it mostly does do great, sometimes it gets sidetracked, It is slow, and when you enable fast mode, you can either use a dumber but faster model, or you can drain your bank account over opus fast finally, the usage limits can use an improvement.
- RBCGC
- It's good. But when you have chat more then 5 times with Claude is stopping you becuase you usage limits and you need to wait for 5h to chat again. So from my opinion is very bad.
- Lacca Dalat
- Good one, finding a new horizon with this extension, hope you all the best claude
- Ville Hartikainen
- Promising, but it works very slowly when compared to e.g. using AI agent in development work. If performance is improved, this can be very useful tool on manual slow tasks.

- It is good idea to have agent in chrome, but now it got a serious bug, If I installed in on serveral browser and login with the same account, when I started one task on one of the brower, other brower will automatically open the same task and webpages to conduct the same work. I think even though it is the same account, you should only let it run on the session where it is started. Please fix this.

- Very clunky, slow, and always requires hand-holding.
- Michael Dixon
- I'm a fan of Claude, but I've been having the worst experience logging in recently. This extension asks me to log into Claude and submit a verification code, but then responds immediately with "That phone number was used too recently." I only have one Claude account and it's a paid plan through work.
