John Hamm 2025-10-04: Normally love SP UNTIL got kicked off today because I use it too much???? Said I (resembled) a bot. Ha! retired 75 yr old artist looking at news, YT and FB. Suspicious behavior for a search engine that advertises itself as, "the world's most private...." Are you measuring me SP?
Мультус 2025-10-01: I like the search engine itself, but this extension is more or less useless: you can't set a custom url to save your settings without using cookies, but that's the only thing this extension would've been good for. It's a great idea, but it's a shame they didn't think of this.
Lennard Kowalik (Len) 2025-09-28: I could not set it as my default search engine on a Chromebook. I'm going to compare search results, but will probably favor DuckDuckGo because of its private interface to AI.
Legion 2025-09-13: Works in address bar, but New Tab does nothing - New Tab has blank page and no url. Have to instal New Tab Redirect extension.
Jack Balcombe 2025-08-08: Startpage is a decent private search engine, I've found it to be slower than DuckDuckGo but the quality of results (at least for me) is much better, and I'm willing to trade a little bit of speed for better results. However, one downside on Chrome specifically is that it changes the New Tab page to an empty page with nothing but shortcuts to your most frequently visited sites, and this page cannot be customised. This is the default new tab page for when you change your search engine to something other than Google on Chrome. I think Startpage should have a custom New Tab page for Chrome which has a Startpage search bar and contains some new tab customisation options - DuckDuckGo has one so there's no reason why Startpage can't. Writing this review in the hopes developers will see it and consider adding one. I will update my review to 5 stars if this happens - thank you!

Sergey G 2025-04-20: Poor search results. Compare search results for 'DSCP_fix_enable' on startpage and ddg/brave/google/bing. I appreciate privacy, but quality results are a base requirement.
Forever Young 2025-04-10: It's good and light, but does not have AI integration, like Brave search for example. An autogenerated AI response is a must because it can usually be the answer to what you are searching.
N 2025-03-27: Useless, changes nothing. Read a good dozen articles including their own site and nothing adds this as a search engine in the top bar or anything. The only way you can use startpage is to manually visit the site. Did not used to be this way but just tried this on chrome on 2 linux systems and windows 10 with identical useless results.

Pat MySecret 2023-10-14: If you have connection problems after installing this connection, check your settings that you are not using a proxy. It seems that the extension allows the advertiser AnonymX which slams you into a limiting VPN. That's too bad.. I like StartPage.. I don't know how closely affiliated this extension is to the site.

MurderChickenXL 2023-10-02: Lacks a custom date search. Also, only 10 results per page is asinine! It's one of the things Google does have, which prevents me from switching to Startpage. Add a custom date search and 100 results and it's 5 stars.

Mike Müller 2021-10-06: Seit Jahren nutze ich Startpage und Startmail. Das Startmail etwas kostet stört mich nicht, denn mit dem Ergebnis bin ich sehr zufrieden. Seit der Nutzung von Startmail habe ich nicht mehr eine Werbemail bzw. sonstige Mail-Belästigungen erhalten. Das ist mir allemal ein paar € im Jahr wert.
