WhatPro - Privacy & Customizer for WhatsApp Web is a Chrome extension that adds privacy protection and customization to WhatsApp Web. It runs only on https://web.whatsapp.com and does not change how WhatsApp works — it only adds optional locks, blur effects, themes, and productivity tools.

🔒 Privacy & Security

• Screen lock — Lock the WhatsApp Web tab with a PIN or password. The chat area is hidden until you unlock. The password is stored only on your device (hashed).
• Blur effects — Blur recent message previews, contact names, profile photos, and media in the sidebar and chat so that people nearby cannot read your chats. You can turn each blur on or off.
• Lock on idle — Option to automatically lock the screen after a period of inactivity.
• Privacy settings — All privacy options (blur toggles, lock state, lock timeout) are saved locally in your browser. No chat content or contact list is sent to any server.

🎨 Customization

• Themes — Apply custom colors to the WhatsApp Web interface (sidebar, header, chat area). Choose from presets or fine-tune to match your preference.
• Theme persistence — Your theme choice is stored locally and reapplied when you open WhatsApp Web again.

• Quick chat — Shortcut to start a new chat from the header.
• Contact info — Quick access to contact/profile info from the chat header.

• Message translation — Optional in-chat translation for messages (uses Google Translate when you choose to translate; only the selected text is sent to Google's translation service).
• Status / media — Tools to view or download status updates and media within the WhatsApp Web UI you already use.

🔑 Permissions in Plain Language

• Storage — Saves your settings (lock password hash, blur toggles, theme, language) only on your computer.
• Tabs — Used so that after you install the extension, any already-open WhatsApp Web tab can be refreshed once to load the extension. We do not read or collect your tab history.
• Scripting — Used to run the extension's code only on https://web.whatsapp.com so we can add the lock, blur, theme, and menu. We do not run scripts on other sites.
• Host access: web.whatsapp.com — Required because the extension only works on WhatsApp Web. We do not access other websites.
• Host access: Google Analytics / Tag Manager / Translate — Used only if you enable analytics (for anonymous usage stats) or use the translation feature (to send selected text to Google Translate). You can disable analytics in settings.

🚫 What We Don't Do

• We do not read, store, or upload your WhatsApp messages.
• We do not collect your contact list or personal data for advertising.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
• We do not run on sites other than WhatsApp Web (and, when you use them, Google's analytics/translate endpoints).

📋 Requirements

• Chrome (or a Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions).
• You must use WhatsApp Web (https://web.whatsapp.com). The extension does not work with the WhatsApp desktop app or mobile app.
