McAfee® WebAdvisor
Browse safely, search with confidence.
McAfee WebAdvisor is your trusty companion that helps keep you safe while you browse and search the web. This extension protects you and your PC from scams, malware, and phishing attempts without slowing down your browsing experience.
Here’s how it works:
✧ Stay ahead of video scams*. Get alerts in seconds when the video you’re watching is AI-generated, so you always know what’s real and what’s fake.
✧ Click with confidence. WebAdvisor warns you of potentially harmful sites before they put you at risk.
✧ Search safely. For supported search engines, WebAdvisor helps you easily identify safe sites by placing red, yellow, or green safety ratings right in your search results.
✧ Breathe easy. Even genuine websites can unwittingly play host to malicious content. WebAdvisor helps identify and block these risky links while still displaying safe content.
As one of the world’s leading independent cybersecurity companies, McAfee actively protects over 600 million connected devices. We use this expertise to power the real-time protection that makes WebAdvisor your first line of defense for safer browsing.
* Video scam protection is available for McAfee Total Protection, McAfee LiveSafe, and McAfee+ plans. Availability varies by region and language.

- I noticed my default search engine was changed to "Yahoo Search!" and not the official Yahoo, but something shady. After some research, I suspected McAfee, but seeing similar reviews here confirmed it for me. Obviously, I am uninstalling. I will stay far away from McAfee after this.
- Akash
- This will change your search engine to yahoo! without explicit consent or notification. Its not a virus, just a shady practice from mcafee to earn money from yahoo!. Also, this extension doesnt protect you much from malicious links.

- I don't know what this security is supposed to do, but something keeps changing my search engine from Chrome to Yahoo, everything I'm reading saying that it is a virus of sorts but this software hasn't alerted me or stopped the issue.
- Shridhar TL
- Keeps switching to Yahoo search and that happens very frequently like more than twice a week which is irritating. Additionally, so for not even single valid blocks for me. So not sure if its really worth having installed while considering the annoying search engine switch it does.
- rizwan maqbool
- does rarely try to force a switch to yahoo, but not too often. it also protects from a lot of dangerous websites, pretty good. it also scans all webites and downloads and ensures security. very easy to setup. it is not constantly invasive either, i even forgot for a few months that i even had this, have had no incidents since i got this
- Sean Ross
- Constantly forces a switch to Yahoo secure search. I spent two months trying to find the cause. Provides nearly no benefit and is incredibly invasive.
- William Williamson
- I love the way MacAfee is protecting my devices and immediately alerting me of possible dangers.
- D Gibson
- how do i get past this page? my only choice here is to "remove from chrome." I just set the damn thing up. confirm and move on? No. No chance. You guys suck at installation but I see you've already got my credit card info. what am I supposed to do now? I go back and this damn page reloads. There is no prompt here except to remove the damn thing you just installed. lame.
- Gary Bernhardt (Bernie)
- Very simple and easy to use.
- Jackie Chan
- tuff. helpful and protected my device's security.
- Octane
- Constant changing of default browser, constant spam of 'expired' ads. Yahoo kept being forced as a default browsers without consent; It did this 4 times before I looked into why and it's a direct cause of this extension. The whole Mcafee brand is borderline built in malware which will in fact give you sponsored ads on your own personal device if you've used the app itself not just the extension. Anything that forces unconsented change to your device really shouldn't have a place as a 'protective' service.

- I've been a customer for some time now. McAfee has a strong security posture and has been rated at nearly the highest level of confidence achievable for an antivirus provider on the market. I really appreciate their innovative initiative in the access protection space and how they continue to reinvent themselves with new product offerings. Their browser extension has worked well for me and my family, ensuring sites are safe and downloads are vetted prior to hitting our system.
- CL Moncrief
- need to make it available and compatible in Vivaldi web browser.
- Getrude Mgijima (MaSueSue)
- It's easy to install. User friendly and have been using it for four good years.

- I keep getting warnings on my computer from McAfee that my protection has expired and need to renew. My protection does not expire for 6 more months. However, I clicked on it thinking I may be mistaken and now it says I have a Trojan. I signed up to Norton again as this was worthless in detecting this fraud.
