HOW DOES IT WORK?
Participants invited to UserTesting studies that require the UserTesting Browser Recorder Extension will be asked to install it.
The extension is only for studies that require it and will be automatically disabled once the participant is done with the study. Once finished, the participant can remove the extension by uninstalling it from their device.
WHO USES THE COLLECTED INFO?
The companies/organizations that created the studies are solely responsible for the data collected and how it's managed.
The purpose of these studies is to help improve the products and services of the companies/organizations that created them. UserTesting Browser Recorder Extension collects and stores your responses when you participate in a study.
This may include screenshots of the web pages you view and audio and/or video recordings made using your camera and/or microphone during the study. If the study requires to record your audio and/or video it will always ask for your explicit consent first and will never record anything without it.
A study may ask you to provide personal information. If you have any questions about the study you are taking part of, please contact UserTesting directly and/or the company/organization that created it.
Under no circumstances is the UserTesting Browser Recorder Extension installed without your consent.

- Absolutely useless. Install the extension, return to survey and there is no way to proceed and there is only the 'install extension' button again. Usertesting in general is pretty broken, with many surveys not working.

- Seems to be a massive glitch with the latest updates as I, too am having issues with tests. When I accept a test and click "start recorder" literally nothing happens, no loading, no errors nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the extension, I have cleared cookies and cache, restarted pc, rebooted chrome, logged out and back into UT and the issue remains. I have lost several tasks as a result, as it's the same issue described on here over the last few months UT really need to sort it as this is awful for testers and clients alike. Just for context I have been with UT for years and had nothing but a positive experience until the last month or so. This just needs fixing now.

- every time i am eligible for any test it asks me for extension, even after adding extension i am not be able to start the test and i loose the task. this is really frustrating.

- All of the tests freeze after uploading the results but just before telling the system that the test has been completed!!! This is a SCAM and a total WASTE OF TIME!!

- I just spent 30+ minutes carefully on a test, only to have it spin, stop working, not upload. I filled in a help technical issue report, which tells me I don't get paid, the client doesn't get my data, and everyone's time is now wasted. How in hell does a testing company have a broken widget and app software (not the first time, either)!?

- During my last test, it didn't stop recording after i finished, which I thought was bothersome. I was going to report, but felt the best approach was to bring it to attention here and hopefully that bug can be looked into. This is why apps and extensions like this i install then immediately uninstall after I'm done.

- This extension just stole 15 minutes of my time by failing at the very end. Giving me a completion code for Usertesting when there is not input field for a completion code.

- We launched an unmoderated user test and got zero participants. After investigating further, we realized the Chrome Extension was a barrier for many. Sometimes people would complete the first step and just close the browser tab completely. Other times, user were unable to install the extension, it just spun endlessly. As a result we "burned" a significant chunk of our available testing audience with an invite to a bogus test.

- Junk - half way through a test when I clicked on the extension window to say i'd completed the step I was working on it just closed the browser window I was using and there was no way for me to resume the test, so I wasted 10 minutes completing half a test with no way to get paid for the time i'd spent.
