Asana2Stay

Asana2Stay connects your clipboard to Asana — letting you paste content from virtually any app or web page directly into Asana tasks, subtasks, projects, or your My Tasks, without losing your place or focus. Think of it as a new integration between Asana and nearly anything else you work with!

Works with both free and paid Asana accounts
- No extra login or authentication — uses your existing Asana browser session
- Works in Chrome, Edge, and most Chromium-based browsers (Arc, Brave, Dia, ChatGPT Atlas, Perplexity Comet, etc.) — but not Safari or Firefox
- Unique features, none of which are possible natively in Asana, AI Studio, AI Teammates, Script Actions, or the Asana API alone
- Consider it the opposite of Asana2Go! (No dependencies)

QUICK START

1. Log into Asana in your browser (app.asana.com)
2. Copy content to your clipboard (email text, a document excerpt, a list of tasks, anything)
3. Click the Asana2Stay icon, or press Ctrl+Shift+Y (customizable)
4. Choose a destination
5. Choose how to paste
6. Click Paste
7.Click the Options page link in footer (see also Options Page help below) to configure and activate some of the advanced features

CHOOSING A DESTINATION

Three ways to select where your content will go:
- Search — type a few characters to find any task, subtask, or project by name using typeahead
- Recents — pick from a dropdown of your recently used destinations; My Tasks is always included automatically
- URL — (Activate in Options if desired) paste any Asana task, subtask, or project URL directly to resolve the destination
- For users with multiple Asana workspaces, a workspace chooser lets you switch between them and sets your new default.

PASTE OPTIONS

Choose exactly where your content lands

For tasks and subtasks:
- Task description (at start or end)
- As a comment
- As new subtask(s) at start or end — paste a multi-line clipboard and each line becomes a separate subtask; optionally include under a new Subtask Section header

For projects:
- Project description (at start or end)
- As new task(s) at start or end — each line becomes a separate task; optionally include under a new Section header

For My Tasks:
- As new task(s) in your Recently Assigned

Format: Choose rich text (preserves formatting from clipboard whether from emails, Google Workspace and MS 365 apps, web pages, etc.) or plain text.

PREPEND & TIMESTAMPS

Choose what (if anything) to appear before your pasted content:
- Text — enter custom text to include (e.g. source, context, etc.)
- Date / Time — add a timestamp automatically (format configurable in Options)
- Date/time can appear before or after your custom text
- Prepend style (bold, italic) is configurable in Options
- When pasting to description, prepend content appears as a one-line header
- For task or subtask creation, the prepend content becomes a prefix on each new item's title

OPTIONS PAGE

Customize Asana2Stay to match how you work:
- Add two small popup menus to filter on-the-fly which work object types appear in Search and Recents (tasks, subtasks, projects)
- Set how many typeahead results to see and how many recent destinations to remember (and clear them)
- Set Prepend style (bold, italic) and date/time format preferences
- Show or hide the date and time pickers in the popup
- Manage the product tour (re-show or dismiss)
- Advanced Show or hide a third way (paste URL) to set the paste destination
- Advanced Show or hide the option to copy to clipboard the destination URL (of the task, subtask, or project)
