• (2024-03-19) Jan Nuzzo: The thing to remember is that Fakespot is rating the reviews, not the products. A product that gets a rating of "A" just means that the reviews were not deceptive. They might have said that the product was awful, but if they are legit reviews, they will score well. A "D" review means the reviews are sketchy, not that the product is bad. I would rather have a review of the product, but at least there is some value in knowing if people are writing fake reviews.

Fakespot helps detect these unreliable product reviews and helps limit my choices. It also rates the sellers themselves. Though not perfect, I use it in additon to my own research.

It also helped me be more aware and how to spot red flags, because as you prob know - the extension can't be used on your phone. So, I'd add products to my cart and then wait until I could get to my Mac to check out these ratings. I was about 5 for 7. I've used other extensions to help find the best price or product and none of them stood up to this. Was so happy when I found out its also compatible with Walmart and to a lesser extent, Shopify. No bad things to say.

I will say, for the sake of product improvement, that it seems to be very skeptical of things I know to be sold by small/indie/made in USA brands. I don't mind this, because I know (for example) that any lousy seller or website would love to convince me that they are, in fact, small and local. My point is, do your background research! When in doubt, I send an email to the company. Great companies will answer me, and heck, I can even feed that email to chatGPT to see if it thinks it's authentic. Just using the tools to my advantage.

  Hi, Ever since I've been using Fakespot I've notice a real annoyance: when I search for an item on Amazon, even something as specific as a book title in the Kindle Store, the returned results show the item I want at the top, but only for a second. Before I can click on it the result is re-sorted with the desired item somewhere in the list. I have to do a browser find, Ctrl-F, to find the one I want again. I've grown used to this behavior and adjusted for it, hoping it would eventually be fixed but it's been months and months and no change. I'm on Chrome for Windows 10: Version 94.0.4606.71 (Official Build) (64-bit). Other active extensions include Pixel Block; Library Extension; Norton Safe Web. Thanks for looking into this issue.   Been using Fakespot for a long time now, but very recently grades have stopped showing up on search results pages and item pages as well. I can see the Fakespot symbol and the color of the grade on the search results page, but not the grade itself. On the item pages the grades aren't showing up at all. The Fakespot Guard rating for the product and whether or not the seller has a "Caution" or other rating shows up, but not the grade and there is no link to the Fakespot site page with the grade for that item. The only way I can get to the Fakespot page with that item so I can see it's grade is by clicking on the Fakespot symbol on the search results pages. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Fakespot extension and restarting my computer. The problem is persisting. I'll also note that I do not see this problem on Best Buy, Walmart or Sephora. Only Amazon. Any suggestions for how to resolve this?
