Explainr AI: Summarize, Extract, Rewrite & Understand Any Website in One Click
Your AI-powered browser assistant for instant page summaries, data extraction, and smart rewrites in any language.
The internet is full of content you need to process. Long news articles you don't have time to read in full. Dense reports packed with data that's buried in paragraphs. Web pages written in styles that don't match how you think. Competitor sites you need to analyze quickly. Research you need to extract, not just skim.
Explainr AI is the browser extension that handles all of it. Four powerful AI tools, one click away, working directly on any page you're visiting — without ever leaving your tab.

🧠 What Is Explainr AI?
Explainr AI is a multi-function AI assistant that lives in your Chrome toolbar. Unlike single-purpose tools that only translate or only summarize, Explainr AI gives you a complete toolkit for understanding and working with web content in any form.
Whether you need the core idea of a 10,000-word report in thirty seconds, structured data pulled out of a cluttered webpage, a badly written paragraph rewritten clearly, or a precise region of a page analyzed on its own — Explainr AI does it instantly, with output delivered in your chosen language.
It's not just a summarizer. It's a full reading and writing assistant, built into your browser.

🛠 Four Powerful Tools in One Extension
📄 Summarize Page
One click. The entire page, distilled into the key points that actually matter.
Explainr reads the full content of any webpage — news article, research paper, product page, Wikipedia entry, earnings report, legal document, forum thread — and returns a clear, structured summary that captures the essential information without the fluff.
This isn't a basic excerpt or a meta-description pull. Explainr uses AI to understand the actual substance of the page and produce a summary that reflects what the content is truly about. Long articles that would take fifteen minutes to read become sixty-second reviews. Dense reports that require specialist knowledge to parse become accessible overviews you can act on immediately.
Use cases: catching up on news you don't have time to read in full, previewing articles before committing to them, briefing yourself before a meeting, researching topics quickly across multiple sources.
📊 Extract Data
Webpages contain structured information — but it's rarely presented in a structured way. Prices scattered across a product comparison. Statistics embedded in paragraphs. Names, dates, figures, and references mixed into editorial content. Manually copying this information out is tedious and error-prone.
Explainr's Extract Data mode identifies and pulls structured information from any page and presents it cleanly. Product details, contact information, event data, financial figures, lists of names or entities, tables buried in text — Explainr finds what matters and surfaces it in a usable form.
Use cases: market research, competitor analysis, lead generation, academic research, price monitoring, content auditing, due diligence.
✍️ Rewrite Selected
Select any text on a webpage — a paragraph, a section, a sentence — and Explainr rewrites it. Instantly. In the style, tone, or format you specify via the custom instruction field.
This is useful in more situations than it might initially seem. Rewrite a confusingly worded clause in plain language. Convert a formal press release into casual talking points. Simplify a technical explanation for a non-expert audience. Make a verbose paragraph concise. Adapt a piece of content for a different context or register.
The custom instruction field gives you precise control. Tell Explainr to "make this shorter and more direct," "rewrite this for a non-technical audience," "convert this to bullet points," or "rewrite this in a more formal tone" — and it does exactly that.
Use cases: content editing, simplifying technical material, adapting content for different audiences, cleaning up poorly written source material, repurposing text for different formats.
🖱 Select Area
Sometimes you don't want to analyze the whole page. You don't want to select text manually. You want to draw a box around a specific section — a sidebar, a chart caption, a product block, a comment thread — and have Explainr work with exactly that.
Select Area lets you click and drag to define a precise region of any webpage, then apply any of Explainr's tools to just that region. It's the most precise way to work with complex pages that have multiple distinct content areas, or pages where text selection is tricky.
Use cases: dense news sites with multiple articles per page, e-commerce pages with mixed product and editorial content, pages with sidebars or callouts you want to isolate, any situation where you need surgical precision rather than whole-page analysis.

🌐 Output in Your Language — All Four Tools
Every one of Explainr's tools delivers its output in your chosen language — regardless of what language the source content is in.
Reading a French market report but thinking in English? Summarize it in English. Extracting data from a German competitor's website but presenting to an Arabic-speaking team? Extract and output in Arabic. Rewriting a Japanese product description for a Spanish audience? Done.
Explainr supports output in 48+ languages, covering the world's major spoken languages and many regional ones. This makes it a genuinely global tool — not a product built for one linguistic context that technically supports others.
Supported output languages include: Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Malayalam, Marathi, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

⚙️ Custom Instructions: You're in Control
Every Explainr action supports an optional custom instruction field where you tell the AI exactly what you need.
This single feature transforms Explainr from a general-purpose tool into a precision instrument. Instead of getting a standard summary, you can ask for "a three-bullet executive summary focused on financial implications." Instead of a generic rewrite, you can specify "rewrite this in plain English suitable for a 16-year-old." Instead of broad data extraction, you can ask for "extract only the dates, names, and quoted figures."
A few examples of custom instructions users apply regularly:

"Summarize in bullet points with the three most important takeaways"
"Extract only pricing information and product names"
"Rewrite this to be more persuasive and action-oriented"
"Keep it under 100 words"
"Focus on risks and limitations, not benefits"
"Explain this as if I have no background in this field"
"Rewrite in a formal, professional tone suitable for a board presentation"

The instruction field is optional — all four tools work immediately without it. But for users who want tailored output, it makes Explainr significantly more powerful.

🎯 Who Uses Explainr AI?
📰 The Information-Overloaded Professional
You have fifty browser tabs open and three hours of reading to get through before your afternoon meeting. Explainr lets you process those tabs in a fraction of the time — summarizing pages in seconds, extracting the data points you actually need, and moving on. For anyone whose job involves consuming and acting on large volumes of web content, this is not a convenience feature. It's a significant time multiplier.
🔬 Researchers & Academics
When you're scanning dozens of sources for a literature review, a competitive analysis, or a policy brief, you can't read everything in full. Explainr's Summarize and Extract modes let you rapidly assess whether a source is worth deeper attention and pull out the specific information you need without reading around it. Academic, journalistic, scientific, and policy content all work equally well.
💼 Business Analysts & Consultants
Competitor websites, industry reports, earnings call transcripts, regulatory filings, procurement documents — the working life of an analyst is relentless reading. Explainr turns slow manual review into fast structured extraction. Get what you need from a source, move to the next one, and arrive at your synthesis faster.
🧑‍💻 Content Creators & Marketers
Use Summarize Page to rapidly research topics across multiple sources. Use Rewrite Selected to adapt source material into new formats without starting from scratch. Use Extract Data to pull references, statistics, and supporting figures efficiently. Explainr fits naturally into the content research and production workflow without replacing the creative work — it just handles the mechanical parts faster.
🌍 International Teams & Multilingual Professionals
When your team spans languages and you're working with content from multiple linguistic markets, Explainr's output language selection becomes invaluable. Summarize a Russian-language source in English for your London team. Extract data from a Chinese supplier's website in Spanish for your Latin American colleagues. The language gap in web content research largely disappears.
🎓 Students
Long academic readings, research papers, assigned articles — use Summarize Page to get the core argument and main evidence from a dense text before deciding how closely to read it. Use Extract Data to pull citations, statistics, and key claims for note-taking. Use Rewrite Selected to rephrase complex passages in language you can work with more easily.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How is Summarize Page different from just reading the article?
Summarize Page extracts the core substance of a page and presents it without the structure, filler, advertising context, or editorial padding of the original. A 2,000-word article might have 400 words of genuine informational content. Explainr finds those 400 words' worth of meaning and gives it to you directly.
What kinds of data can Extract Data pull from a page?
It depends on what's on the page and what you ask for. Without a custom instruction, Explainr extracts the most prominent structured data it identifies. With a custom instruction ("extract all product names and prices" or "find all cited statistics"), it focuses precisely on what you need. It works well with product details, contact information, event data, financial figures, named entities, dates, and tables embedded in text.
Can I use Rewrite Selected on text from any website?
Yes — if you can select the text on a page, Explainr can rewrite it. The output appears in Explainr's panel and doesn't modify the original page. You can copy the rewritten version and use it however you need.
Does Select Area work on images or charts?
Select Area works with the text content within a selected region. It is not an image analysis or OCR tool — it works with the rendered text in a selected portion of the page. For pages where important content is presented as text, Select Area gives you precise control over which sections you're working with.
What's the difference between using it on the whole page vs. selecting text?
Summarize Page and Extract Data work on the full page content automatically. Rewrite Selected and Select Area work with specific text or regions you define. You can also use the custom instruction field with any tool to focus the output — for example, telling Summarize Page to focus on a particular aspect of the content even when analyzing the full page.
Is my browsing data private?
Yes. Explainr only sends content to our servers when you actively trigger an action. We don't monitor which pages you visit, don't log your browsing history, and don't retain the content you process beyond the time needed to return your result.
