YouTube has auto-translated subtitles. But who actually wants to read while watching? I wanted to LISTEN. So I built what I wished existed — an extension that takes any YouTube video and generates AI voice dubbing in your language, right inside the YouTube player.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

❓ Does it work on any YouTube video?
💡 It works on any video that has subtitles available — either manual captions or YouTube's auto-generated ones. Some videos have no subtitles at all, and those cannot be dubbed because the extension reads existing captions rather than transcribing audio directly. This is a technical limitation of Chrome extensions due to browser security policies (CORS).

❓ Is my data safe?
💡 Everything runs in your browser. No videos, no audio, and no personal data are uploaded to any server. No tracking. No account required. Your API keys, if you use any, are stored locally in your browser only.

❓ What if the dubbed voice speaks in the wrong language?
💡 Browser Text-to-Speech uses voice packs installed in your operating system. If the voice for your target language isn't installed, the browser may fall back to a default language. You can install additional language voice packs through your OS settings — Windows, macOS, and Linux all support this. After installing, restart Chrome for the new voices to appear.

❓ How long does generation take?
💡 It depends on the video length and your computer's resources, since processing runs locally. For most videos, generation completes within a few minutes. Once generated, playback is always instant and cached locally.

❓ How many languages are supported?
💡 50+ languages, covering most major languages worldwide. If you need a specific language that isn't listed yet, send feedback through the extension panel — I actively add languages based on user requests.

❓ Why doesn't it work on videos without subtitles?
💡 The extension reads existing subtitles to generate translations and dubbing. It cannot transcribe audio directly due to how Chrome extensions work and browser CORS security policies. This is a known limitation — there is a plan to work around this in the future, but for now the extension works with videos that have captions available.
