- (2025-05-05) Abdirahman Abdullahi: I want to give this extension a higher grade but it tries to encrypt all of my emails even though i turn it off which makes it frustrating. Hopefully yhis can be resolved soon so I can give it the 5 stars it deserves otherwise I will have to try another extension that can do this more effectively.
- (2025-04-16) Agney Deshpande: When I first download the Chrome extension, it works great, but after a day when I reopen my Gmail, Virtru is not active even though it shows up in my Chrome extensions list. Each time I want to use it, I have to uninstall and reinstall the extension. This is very frustrating.
- (2025-01-27) Isaias O: Appears to work, I sent a "Secured" email to someone who didn't have the extension installed in their browser. Responding to my secured email didn't appear to be too onerous of a process for my recipient. My only question is: who controls the encryption keys? Is this an asynchronous encryption process using on-the-fly public/private encryption key generation? I guess that I need to go to the Virtru website and learn how this works.
- (2024-11-20) Jeremy McInerney: Caused my emails to be marked as SPAM in Google Email Server scoring algorithm. Super frustrating. Otherwise, easy to use encryption tool that I had been using for a few years.
- (2024-04-15) LaToya Davidson-Perez: Super easy to use extension that doesn't clash with any of my existing extensions. You essentially don't have to change how you send an email. I was using separate software outside of Gmail to send encrypted data. Now, it's super intuitive and easy!
- (2024-03-21) Mark Anthony Allen: Another google piece of junk. can you make it harder to install.
- (2024-03-12) Dr. Jeff Moore: Y All I want is to find the button to reinstall virtu. You guys must enjoy making the simple, complicated and time consuming. My old judo instructor always said, "16 steps to the outhouse by 'will he make it'. So far all, this sounds like a politician who says a lot, and yet nothing at all that make sense. Just send me the info I need and not all the floss.
- (2024-02-08) Michelle V Slater: this is not helpful, this is too much to just get a w2 emailed to ourselves.
- (2024-02-05) Carla V Giles Samuels: This is not helpful at all . Why do i have to click on different screens to print my W2s. It should be set up where once you have your email of the W2s. Why cant we have virtu activated and forward the documents. I have been trying for weeks to get this going. Unfortunately I have to try to take pics of the document needed.
- (2024-01-11) Heidi Pacher: Like every other week, this week I have to remove and reinstall virtru. I've had the same issues many other reviewers have had. Sometimes this happens multiple times in a day. I've adjusted filters and firewall, and still it removes itself from my email, despite saying it is active. When signed in here on my work account, virtru will try and add itself to my personal gmail. I don't know why this is happening either. When in the process of activating, it can take several attempts to activate. I can't tell you how much time this has made me waste, but its a lot. The app for android is also problematic and I've had to remove and reinstall it a few times in the last 2 years or so.
- (2023-11-23) Dantong Sun: every time to activate it needs to go for a run of uninstall /install.
- (2023-08-09) David Mortensen: I like it, but it keeps 'falling out' and I have to reactivate it or reinstall it. Perhaps a VPN or auth issue as I use it for work, but it does seem to be problematic at times and I have to intervene. Other than that I super like it!

- (2023-07-11) T Provo: If your Virtru is disappearing... make sure to delete other extensions, such as dark reader. Dark Reader for chrome was blocking the extension from working. Thank you to the Virtru support team (Simone) who was communicative, and transparent about how to solve this.

- (2020-04-03) Cyrena Latham: Since 2018 people have been complaining about this.... STILL HAPPENING IN 2020!!! Gmail stops functioning, emails won't send and AREN'T saved to drafts. You lose the entire email if you don't realize what's happening because after you THINK you sent it, a brand new email pops up that you have to go through to unlock everything as if you're the intended receiver, not the creator, and then have to copy & paste and create a whole brand new email to try and get it to send.... at least 2-3 more times, in that order. I tried to contact their support, but after typing out all of the info, I click on the button to submit and nothing happens. Obviously it's a company wide thing and they don't care.

- (2018-12-05) Michael J: I really like Virtru - but it totally conflicts with the new gmail interface. With Virtru chrome extension enabled and gmail using the new (now mandatory) interface - gmail stops working. Clicking anything in gmail (eg Compose) does nothing. Disabling the Virtru extension solves the problem. Switching to the old gmail interface (back when you could) also resolved the issue. I'd love to use Virtru, but obviously if you can't use gmail, then it's pointless. Also - there are features such as disabling forwarding or creating an expiration date on your emails that are shown as greyed out options in Virtru when you send an email. I believe these require a pro subscription - but good luck to you if you can figure out how to get that for the personal gmail version (ie not g suite).

- (2018-10-16) Shaya Klechevsky: Was working more or less ok with the old gmail layout (was getting weird rendering on the compose window) but now that the gmail UI has been force updated for everyone, the chrome plugin doesn't seem to work anymore. Any ideas on when to expect a fix?

- (2018-08-31) Heather Couturier: I really loved this until I realized I could no longer edit or add canned response emails. I use this function a lot as I need to send the same, exact emails out to various people for a number or reasons. I had to remove the app.

- (2018-03-16) Mathieu Bourhis: It breaks gmail search "Exact phrase like this" is searched as Exact OR phrase OR like OR this I'd rather filter gmail as intended without the app and decrypt manually.

- (2017-11-29) Cory Norris: So east to use. Gives you options that no other secure emails source does. I never leave reviews but had to, because I can't believe its not more widely used.

- (2017-11-24) Easy to use but keeps switching itself on and encrypting emails that don't require encryption which is very annoying. Possibly down to how my organize has chosen to configure it but at very least I would expect a warning and option to send the email without encryption. Without this I end up having to disable the add-in except when I need it.
- (2017-10-23) Lynn Deman: Works very well with little to no configuration. A very elegant one button solution to encrypting gmail messages.
