Why is this needed? Google +1 chrome button recommends on Google Search, Shares on Google+. +1 gets conversations going!

Just started using the Plus On+1 Button. THe colours are reversed from your picture. Have I installed it correctly? It doesn't always work. I can't see my posts in G+ for example. If I use it to attempt to publish inks to different articles on the same website page, it 'undoes' the first 'like'. WHat am I doing wrong? Thanks
