• (2023-03-31) Jesse Gilbride: This extension used be an awesome service (pre-2023), but something is broken. I noticed the broken behavior when I could no longer visit LinkedIn shortened URLs. It looks like the extension hasn't been updated in a while, so I fear it's a dead project. Hopefully they fix it.

• (2018-11-03) Hannibal Moot: I was really liking this extension up until this past week. It seems to only work about 10% of the time now for some reason. It keeps coming up with a timeout error, try again in 30 seconds (which never works btw). Don't know if it's just me or if others are experiencing this as well. Was this a Chrome update issue? Does the extension need a new update? Would love to have it functioning again as it really was a great service.

• (2018-02-06) Chris Miller: The product works well, but when enabled this product is talking to a server spreading malware. The extension is communicating to 199.59.242.150 constantly. This IP has been serving malware and hosting botnets and pornography. This might be unrelated to the application itself, I am not sure. Regardless, I am not going to have any of my machines communicate with a server spreading malware, etc thousands of times per hour.

• (2017-06-27) Neil J: I thought Unshorten.link was going to display the expanded URL at the bottom of the browser-window where link destinations are usually displayed. Instead, you click on a shortened link, and a whole page pops up displaying the expanded URL in easy-to-read glorious color. Then, you can click the expanded URL or not, or just close the pop-up if your curiosity is assuaged, whatever you like. Also, easy to mouse-drag-select the expanded URL, and copy it without necessarily opening it. I think that's fine. Thanks.

  Some of the forums and blogs I visit do not support active links in the comments, so people post urls as plain text... Is it possible to select the text or click on it to see the expanded value?

  Because there is no redirect from a https://my.cl.ly/ link, the extension gets stuck in a loop. Clicking the "expanded" link takes you to...exactly the same link, which is captured by the extension and around we go again and again. Have to turn off the extension to use that service. (CloudApp: screenshots and screensharing service for business stuff).

  Since 1/19 I am having a problem with www.chase.com. I'm getting the wrong login option, which in turn sends me to a Chase error message page. So I figured they were having a problem. It's 1/22 now and the same thing still happens. To make a long troubleshooting story short, it turns out that when I disable Unshorten.link the problem stops. Then I noticed that on 1/19 there was a new version released. Bingo! Note: The problem isn't apparent if you do not have a Chase account. But I do, and it seems to treat me a bit differently even before I log in (it lets me login on the home page without having to go to another page to do it). It's this login procedure which is broken when I enable Unshorten.link.

  i know i'm not the first one to address this problem, but when i first used unshorten.link, it worked perfectly in an adf.ly page, but later, i tried again for another adf.ly page and the loop appeared. i tried again the first one and again the loop, so please, fix it, because yours is the best extension i've seen so far in the whole chrome web store, but this spoils its greatness

  Whenever I click on a short url I get a message that says: "We're sorry, but something went wrong. If you are the application owner check the logs for more information." I had to uninstall so I could access the links. Please fix this, it was a fantastic extension before this happened. :)
