Block distracting websites and get inspired to focus on what's important

Image from store Focus
Description from store Block distracting websites and get inspired to focus on what's important. You want to be productive and spend your time online in a purposeful way. But it can difficult with all of the online distractions out there. There are plenty of other tools like Block site and StayFocusd that block you from accessing Facebook, Reddit, Pinterest or whatever your Internet vice might be, and others like Momentum that inspire you every time you open a new tab, but Focus stands out by helping you to get back to what's important. On the options page, record which websites you want to be blocked from. When attempting to reach that page, our blocked page will show an inspirational message on top of a high-resolution image. Hopefully with that little inspiration, you'll be back to work. Focus also offers in-app purchases where you can record your epic dream and be reminded of it every time you try to get to a blocked page. Imagine all the time you'll spend working on achieving your biggest dreams instead of mindlessly surfing the Internet.

  • (2017-11-13) Lukas Gawenda: It would be great to temporarily allow access to the blocked sites within a specific time budget per day/week/month.
  • (2017-10-08) jc larsen: This is so, so close to being perfect. I found that it helps redirect my muscle memory/mindless typing of websites that I go to to distract myself. It's nice to catch myself when it happens with a nice reminder why I'm avoiding the sites. It's also nice it read a good inspirational quote which is usually just enough to sate the need to be momentarily distracted. Focus also gets points for the ease of set up. Some similar apps feel too convoluted and confusing to be worthwhile. But to echo what some other reviewers have said, there should be a way to temporarily allow access to sites. For example, I sometimes need to access social media sites for my job. It's a bit of a pain to go into the app and delete the site from the list and then add it again. Or, open a non-Chrome browser in order to access the site. Also, I'm not able to see all of the sites that I've blocked. Otherwise, it's great! I'm planning on using this still but it would be great to add some of the tweaks that others (myself included) have suggested. Thanks!
  • (2017-05-23) Paula Babbicola: You should add the option to select what times you want it to be active - or at least a way to disable the "time to focus" without disabling the extension.
  • (2017-03-01) Hubert Misquith: Helps cutting e-clutter in our productive life.
  • (2017-02-09) YASHKUMAR BILTHARE: RIGHT
  • (2017-01-17) Giovanni Ciriello: There is no option to enable / disable focus time! I can't study all day!
  • (2016-12-30) Ryan Allen: I really like this idea, thank you! It would be nice to be able to have a switch to temporarily disable the blocking. Also, I would like to edit my motivational goals Those two things would make it 5 stars.
  • (2016-12-20) Lucian Boroslache: Two things I want: To be able to change the quotes to my list of quotes(e.g. write quotes in my language). Add a small shadow around the text so you can read it over a white part of an image (e.g. waterfall).
  • (2016-12-18) saad bin sami: Excellent,wonderfull,love u
  • (2016-12-18) Cory Lamle: Simple and Easy!
  • (2016-10-31) jorge coque: I had just given it 5 starts, I loved the concept. Yet I need to have some time where I can access to news I have added as distracting pages. And now I'm seeing that it just block the webs randomly (sometimes yes, sometimes not).
  • (2016-08-03) Richard Ham: Yep just what I needed to help me stay on track and not get sucked into visiting fb yet again when I'm meant to be building my business. Well done!
  • (2016-07-12) Great and positive. Not only blocks, but motivates to do something, too. Liked it. For me only one thing is missing: sometimes I really need to look at blocked sites - not for fun, but for some information. Now I have to switch to another browser instead od having eg. 10 minutes "to waste" daily. And how about adding more than one dreams? They could be randomly selected for motivation screen. For me it completely eradicated StayFocused and other adons!
  • (2016-04-18) Vukkum Sai Prakash: Really Awesome for Students. Best ever. Motivating whenever I fall back towards passing on time.
  • (2016-04-11) Paul Garaud: I love the concept of positive reinforcement and reminders about why you should stay on task (i.e., what your goal is that you're trying to achieve). However, it doesn't appear to have wildcard blocking (i.e., block a site based on a keyword in the URL) which is a deal-breaker for me. There is also a huge gap in the features relative to something like StayFocusd. Love the idea, and glad to see it works for others.
