• (2021-12-19) Dennis Schamne: I'm using this handy extension to automatically delete old history because otherwise the browser becomes sluggish when it has to keep all the history of several years from the past. But I don't need to delete all the history because I want to know what links I have clicked in the past weeks/months, so I prefer to keep that. What I would like to see in the next version of this extension: Ability to customize the number of days instead of being limited to 1 hour to 30 days. In my case I would like to keep the history of the past 3 months.
• (2021-09-15) Thomas Schittli: Thanks a lot for sharing your great work!, It is a pity that the extension does not simply allow you to enter the number of days in a text box. For example, at home I want to delete everything older than 3 months and at work, everything older than 7 months.

• (2019-11-02) S: Been using this for a while on Opera, but since the past week or so it stopped doing anything altogether. I have it to set to purge history and downloads that are more than 30 days old automatically, but even with it set to prompt me before doing anything it still doesn't work sadly. This is the only extension I've been able to find that automatically purges old history, so it'd be a shame if it's broken.

• (2016-09-03) Joop Reijenga: Like others said too, a lifesaver. The standard delete "now to xx days back" is plain stupid. Sure when your boss or wife shouldn't see what you looked at then it's logic hahaha. Keep recent and delete older is plain logical like "hey I remember seeing that last week etc" and if someone wants to remember older pages then bookmark 'em and delete other old history. GREAT extension Mike, big THNX!!!!

• (2014-10-12) Spud Miller: Ok...I thought this was what I have been looking for...truly ONE CLICK. However, after setting up the preferences and clicking, it doesn't remove any history. It doesn't seem to work! After running it, I perform CTRL-H and up pops my history page...and nothing is actually gone but the favicon displayed for each history entry. If this worked, it would be great! Maybe it's broken or hasn't been updated for the newest version of Chrome?

  I have all 3 choices selected and I never get a prompt before deleting or a notification when it's cleared. I have no idea how to check to see if the records are purged.

  Does it clear all of them or just ones that match your choice for clearing history? Let me rephrase that. If I choose Clear History Older Than the last 7 days & opt to Clear All Cookies, does it just delete cookies older than 7 days?

  Settings are "Clear entries newer than the selected time" and "Last 1 hour". Note the "newer", Notification which appears when icon is clicked (to perform clearing): "History deleted older than 1 hour". Note the "older". So which is it: the message is wrong or the setting is wrong? What is really getting cleared?

  I was unable to get this extension to work. My current Chrome version is Version 66.0.3359.181 (Official Build) (64-bit) and the settings I chose were "Clear entries older than the selected time", "Last 30 Days", " Prompt before deleting", "Display a notification whenever data is cleared" and "Clear download history". I am also logged into Chrome on my phone, and have logged in to my browser on my desktop computer (though it's off at the moment), so I'm not sure if this is an issue with being logged in on multiple devices.
