Converts weak passwords to domain specific strong ones

Image from store Password Hasher
Description from store This application uses a hash function to generate strong domain specific passwords using weak ones. Tired of having to make up and remember different passwords for each new website that asks for a login? Tired of sites insisting your password must have upper case, lower case, number, symbol and what not? If so, your life is about to become easier! Now you can remember _one_ weak password to generate unique ultra strong domain specific passwords. This takes the following three components - 1) Any password you type (can be very weak, for example "AAA" or "123") 2) Your master password (set this in options) 3) Domain name of the current URL (so www.facebook.com and help.facebook.com will get same strong password, while facebook.com and google.com will get different passwods) It then generates a random-looking password using these. In practice after setting the master password, you may need only want to change (1), or even none of these for that matter. This will always generate unique passwords for every different domain you use.

  • (2015-11-06) Jim P: Use Password Hasher extensively in FireFox. Appears that the Chrome version author has highjacked the name of the FireFox extension of the same name. Unfortunately, the Chrome version uses a different algorithm than the FF version. Consequently I can't use the Chrome version to log onto the sites I do from FireFox. Chrome version is therefore totally useless to me. Bummer.
