Description from extension meta

Displays a digital clock on a page.

Image from store Overlay Clock
Description from store Displays a small digital clock at the corner of the screen, on a small semi-transparent patch. Colors and opacity are configurable. You can choose a 12- or 24-hour clock. The clock can be restricted to fullscreen mode only, which makes it ideal when reading text, e.g. with the Kindle Cloud Reader. Based on the original Overlay Clock extension by mk, improved to eliminate web site conflicts.

  • (2022-10-17) Ra Si: It worked a year ago. But it doesn't anymore. Or am I doing something wrong? I can't get it to show up anymore! I installed it. How to get it to display the time now?
  • (2022-10-15) Hoschen: It's great, but please make it visible in full screen mode on Netflix and Disney+.
  • (2021-12-07) Zach Garet: Great for using a second screen on a mac without the taskbar menu.
  • (2020-04-07) Meet Vora: My man, this extension is an absolute blessing for those who like working in fullscreen mode - there's only one thing I wish it had which is an overlay battery notifier. Please add that as a feature and / or create a new extension. I will be eternally grateful if you do!
  • (2020-02-12) Peter C: For me this is the perfect on screen clock for web browsers.  As I have a small visual disability, trying to make out the small clock at the bottom right in the Windows Taskbar easily just isn't possible for me unless I delve into Windows disability settings -- and then end up with an ugly looking screen. One of the reasons I use this extension is that it doesn't become part of the clutter in the Extensions toolbar either, it floats on top of the web page, and you can put it quite literally anywhere on a page. Here are some tips using my 1920px * 1080px display as an example. 1. First thing to know is that it doesn't work on blank pages -- the new tab -- or in the Chrome Store, apparently because it inserts itself into websites' HTML. So the best way to experiment is on a relatively plain page, such as the Google Search page, where there is no clutter. Because it becomes part of the HTML, it doesn't show up instantly when you load a web page: it appears last, because it loads after all the innumerable bits of s**t web pages consist of. It doesn't work in Reader view.  2. The default setting, accessible when you click on the Overlay Clock extension button, puts the clock near the top right of a web page, a perfectly good choice. The clock position is calculated from the top and right margins of the browser page. For someone who has always squinted at the bottom right of the screen at the Windows Taskbar for the time, that's not ideal, so I changed "Margin from top" to 800px. The margin is calculated including the clock's background, so if you choose not to have a background -- I find one distracting -- you can set "Margin from right side" to a negative value: -5px sets the time flush to the right margin for me. 3. After making changes remember to click Save and then reload the page. 4. Because Overlay Clock calculates the position of the clock from the top right margin -- top left would have been easier for those who don't like to calculate relative pixel positions -- to set the clock flush to the left on my 1920 x 1080 display I had to set "Margin from top" to 1660px. 5. Because of my visual disability I have a 27" 1920 x 1080 screen and sit just 3 or so feet from it. Even then my browsers' zoom is set to 150% as default. (I've used Zoom for Google Chrome for years and find it indispensable.) When you zoom in or out of a web page you also change the relative position of Overlay Clock from the top right of the viewport: at 150% it vanishes off the screen, so I had to set "Margin from top" to 535px 6. You can change the typeface of Overlay Clock to any you have on your system. Because I find it easier read, I changed to Verdana, and increased the size to 20px. Make sure to use the entire name of the typeface you choose: 'Comic Sans' will revert to the default 'monospace' unless you use the complete official name 'Comic Sans MS'. One of the 'Bahnschrift' versions on Windows might please Schweizerische Bundesbahnen fans.  7. Unfortunately there is no On/Off switch, but if you click on the time, Overlay Clock it will hide itself for about 10 seconds so that you can access any hidden web page elements. To turn off Overlay Clock while you are watching a video, for example, simply set "Background Opacity" to 0 -- and not lower or upper case 'o', as I did one time...  Finally, remember that all pixel settings are relative to the top right of the browser window! If your browser window isn't maximized, everything will be off.  I didn't write this extension. This is a quick guide I wrote for an extremely computer challenged friend which I thought I'd paste here.
  • (2019-12-09) Derghi Arrinde: This is the only clock extension in Chrome that works fine as overlay in youtube. Also in fullscreen youtube. One star down because the fullscreen-only option of Overlay Clock does not work at all here. I could not find a website where it would not display on normal screen and display at fullscreen. It simply needs to be on all the time, hence 1 star down. Please test and try to fix it somehow. Chrome version 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (32-bit) Windows 7. It's also possible to restrict the displaying of clock on various websites. Just go to extension details in Chrome >> more tools >> Extensions and set your allowed sites there.
  • (2019-11-26) Bree Vwhyman: This is a beautiful extension.......Thankyou very much for a common sense Clock for the Desktop. Some people may need to Set things up. IT requires users to Reload web pages, from earlier and since they just installed the CLOCK......the clock then appears. It is very clever how you can CLICK the clock and it dissapears for a while.........allowing access to webpage controls undernaethe.... Many thanks indeed for a Clear Clever Clock.............i feel it is a Failing of Desktop operating systems that don't ***clearly*** continually show time..............Your clock solves that. Thanks a Lot Vin

  • (2018-09-05) Mark Lawrence: No clock is not displaying at on many pages (using Chrome v68) I really wanted it for full-screen youtube and other pages. Could you at least let the user blacklist the sites the clock does not show on

  • (2016-05-07) The only problem I have with Overlay Clock is that it can't be moved and often covers the logout button on several of the websites I use regularly. Each time, I have to go into Extensions, disable Overlay Clock, refresh the page, the re-enable Overlay Clock. But, then I have to refresh each tab I have open because when I disable Overlay Clock, it stops working on that page until the page reloads. Could be a GREAT extension if that one thing were fixed. But that one thing makes it too much trouble to deal with. I have to disable it multiple times a day and refresh every tab. No.

  • (2015-08-31) Michalis Odysseos: You fixed a big problem man. OS X does not auto-hide the dock properly so I have to be full screen all the time. This extension is all I was needing to make my life perfect

  • (2022-11-23, v:0.6) Jeremy Harkcom: Can this be modified to show seconds
Hi , took me a while to figure out how to use this as it doesn't work within the google chrome web store, as soon as I tried a different webpage up pops the clock. Just mentioning this in case others are fooled too. It works great - thank you just what I was looking for. Anyway reason for the suggestion. Would it be possible to add seconds to this clock. Very useful if your watching a continously updating webpage and want some record of the exact time events occur at. Thanks
  • (2020-10-23, v:0.6) Jerzy Potocki: It would be great to have an option to blacklist some addresses
I would love to have the option to hide the overlay clock on some websites (for example those that already show their own clock, such as meet.google.com), can you make it to Options?
  • (2020-06-08, v:0.6) Harminder Singh: Does not display
It simply does not show up anywhere on the screen.

great extension, exactly what I wanted. however it doesn't support file:// local sites which I need to use a lot. any chance you can add support, even if it's an option?
  • (2018-11-08, v:0.5) Just1ceFury: Unfamiliar with font types
Which system did you use to recognize a font family? The font type strikes to the default setting, regardless of what I have attempted to replace the font family with.
  • (2018-05-15, v:0.4) Jonathan L: Please add date
Love this, thank you! Please add date option
  • (2018-04-11, v:0.4) Clint Wrede: Friendly suggestions
What a great app! Do you have a tip jar/Paypal somewhere? Beggars (i.e., freeloaders like me) can't be choosers, but if I could, I would add these handy features: 1) An option to display the date, either with or without the time, in a variety of date formats. Putting them on two separate lines would be great, but an option to choose which is on top would be cool. For me, the same set of appearance settings (colors, size, etc.) could apply to both lines. 2) The ability to move the overlay to the other corners of the window. Click-and-drag would be sweet, but moving it via a setting would be just fine. Thanks for contributing this app, Clint
  • (2017-09-28, v:0.4) Timer Option
It would be great if I could use this app to set a countdown timer, I'm always switching between a timer and a calming background for transition times in my classroom.
  • (2017-03-21, v:0.4) Saurabh Joshi: World Clock
It would be a great clock if we could get chance to select the different time zones.
  • (2016-03-03, v:0.3) Clock position
It's a GOOD clock, but it would be a GREAT clock if we could choose the position. Far too many times, I have to go into the Extension menu, disable Overlay Clock, refresh the page I'm on, just to be able to close the page or a layer. That reduces Overlay Clock from a productive tool to an annoying encumbrance. The additional option of being able to choose which corner the clock appears in would make this a 5-star extension.
  • (2015-05-04, v:0.3) Private Angel: suggestion
It would be nice if we had the option to chose the position of the clock display as it is at present if I want to close a open page on the web the display is right on top of close page option and preventing me from doing so. For this reason I had to disable the extension.
