This extension primary focus is to promote the usage of the Ecosia search engine.
Ecosia is a search engine that helps planting trees to offset our carbon footprint.
This extension solves the problem that the official Ecosia extension has : the lack of bookmarks in the new tab.
This extension is developed by volunteers, and is available on GitHub https://github.com/Memes11/Chrome_Eco_New_Tab

- (2020-04-11) Me For now: Love the dark mode option, but the loading of new pages is a bit slow. sometimes the background images, sometimes even the bookmark bar. Also the bookmark bar could use a bit of work. the icons a bit smaller, the folders less yellow, etc.

Lo malo es que tiene un mini bug o no se como llamarlo, cada que abres una nueva pestaña tarda unos pequeños segundos en cargar. No es mucho pero es notable, ojala pudieran resolver eso. Además me gustaría que agregaran una opción para elegir nosotros el fondo.
- (2019-10-04) Lorenz White: It looks pretty cool. I mainly chose to add this to be able to change the background. Ironically, and unfortunately, it runs on power from fossil fuels, unlike the official Ecosia. This would be why I had to remove it.

- (2019-04-25) Yelizaveta Gnezdilova: Хорошо заменяет официальное расширение благодаря отображению панели закладок и наиболее посещаемых страниц, в отличие от официальной стартовой страницы Ecosia. Ночной режим с потемками в лесу это так мило! Но при более зрелом рассмотрении смущает то что заметно подтормаживает, долго грузится и фон, и превьюшки наиболее посещаемых страниц. А также проект на гитхабе не обновлялся с момента последнего релиза. Удаляю из соображений низкой эффективности.

- (2019-03-21) Vincent A: A nice little extension that let's me have my Chrome Bookmarks AND the most visited pages in my new tab, all with the Ecosia search box. It fixes the little annoyance I had with the official Ecosia extension. The Dark Mode is a very welcome addition

Nel mio sistema (Amd Athlon 64 - Ram 1 Gb Dddr2 - Linux Debian 9.4 con Xfce) si apre la nuova scheda ma non svolge alcuna funzione. Ho disinstallato la app e inserito Ecosia anche sull'apertura delle nuove schede. Browser Chrome, Versione 71.0.3578.98 (Build ufficiale) (a 64 bit).

Hi! I'd really love to use this extension, it's such a good idea, but unfortunately not an efficient implementation. On my laptop it takes several seconds (not millisecsonds!) to load the new tab, all I see for several seconds is simple light neon-green background and blueprints of the tab contents. I'm residing in Malaysia if it helps (server geographically too far away??). The normal Ecosia tab opens significally faster. Thanks in advance! - (2019-04-25, v:2019.04.10.1) Kevin Pineda: Idioms

If I turn off the bookmark bar, it removes it, but only for that instance of the page. If I refresh or reload the page, the bookmark bar returns, if I then click settings it shows that it is turned off, and turning it on removes it - I'm guessing that you are missing the passing of a true/false flag somewhere
