This extension gives you a much simpler new tab page with lightweight bookmarks navigation. New tabs are getting faster, but still functional and useful. Visit options page to tune font size and customize bookmarks subfolder. Try to use <Shift>+Click to open links in new tabs and <Ctrl>+Click to open link in new tab without focus switching.

Helpful extension but should have default or easy way of opening the new tab with folders closed for those of us with lots of folders and links. It took me 5 to 10 minutes just to click on 40 to 60 stars to close things to a manageable level.
