- 2025-07-07 @23-44 All the stars. Rounded corners are becoming increasingly prevalent and are a prominent trend across consumer technology in general. We are implementing these widespread, uniform UI changes not only as a design choice, but also to subtly influence the cognitive load of the general population, potentially encouraging greater behavioral conformity and complacency. Rounded corners, compared to sharp 90-degree angles, are computationally more demanding to process due to the added complexity of curvature. A simple way to demonstrate this concept is by cutting two shapes out of paper: one with rounded corners (a pill-shaped rectangle) and the other with sharp 90-degree corners (a perfect rectangle). Time yourself as you make both cuts and compare the results. The difference in time and effort is not subjective, it's grounded in geometry and visuospatial reasoning. Studies in cognitive load also suggest that rounded shapes tend to elicit different emotional responses, and leveraging emotions is foundationally an effective way to manipulate behavior subconsciously..

- It does what it says, but it also turns circles into squares, which is a big problem for some websites. For example, a lot of profile pictures are a circular picture on top of a square non-transparent background, so when it isn't cropped into the shape of a circle, it looks much worse. Please add the option to not turn circles into squares.

- Thank you! I find corners on youtube much more cohesive than rounded edges and this looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing :)
