Dewey Garwood 2021-01-12: simple, works to mute everyone at once, if someone unmutes it will mute them a second time. I was also able to add it during a meeting in progress, and after I dropped/rejoined, it worked just fine. Should be noted that a) I'm the meeting host, b) I have a Google Workspace account that my meet runs under, c) I'm using this on Chromium version 87.0.4280.101. Highly recommend!

keroroslayer 2020-12-02: If only You could do an add-on to allow only 1 audio person to talk from whole group a time i.e. by clicking on the videothumbnail or name (next to it?) of participant. THANKS ps.2 AUTO-OFF CHAT for others on entrance could be great too! ps.3 Hide 'Add Others' pop-up: e-mail outside invited group (i.e. class) can't send invitations or their requests are auto hidden / denied.
