  • (2024-12-06) Robert Rozak: I've never left a bad review in my life. I think the high star ratings are to encourage the developer, because people so desperately would love to have this and want to encourage the developer to continue to make improvements. Another reviewer said "As an instinctive vim user, the incomplete support often creates a train wreck because a sequence of movement and editing commands will yield an unexpected result." THIS! In fact, learning the exceptions to effectively use this plugin will mess up your productivity when you're using VIM for your coding. I can't even get some really basic stuff to work. In NORMAL mode, "dd" indeed deletes the line, but following up with a "p" doesn't paste it. In the "Remap Your Keys" page, there is an option to toggle "Cut Text" for "dd". I'm not exactly sure what that is supposed to do. Having that enabled, "dd" no longer deletes the line, and "p" still doesn't paste anything. I can't get the analogous procedures to work in VISUAL mode either. Clearly, a LOT of work has gone into this. But, don't charge money for something that's not going to be fully supported. I'd be happy to pay 3x what is asked for this app ... if it worked. If it's not going to be fully supported, then make it open source. Using v1.17 in Chrome on Windows 11
  • (2024-11-08) James Conigrave: Would be great to also add support for word online. While the core is here and worth using, many common motions are missing which is a shame ({ {#}f{char} etc.
  • (2024-09-22) Samyok Nepal: goat, bought it. thanks
  • (2024-08-31) Lucas Jesiah Zheng: Nice extension, but missing crucial features like relative line numbering.
  • (2024-06-28) Karthik Rao Macherla: Delete doesn't copy to the clipboard which is a huge limitation, but really good work
  • (2024-05-31) GONZÁLEZ LÓPEZ ALAN DAVID: Great plugin, would love to see this plugin extended to be able to work with office 365!
  • (2024-05-29) Sidharth Padhee: I have been eagerly anticipating this feature, and it truly makes Google Docs an ideal tool for writing! Thank you very much. I have a feature request: For the 'f' command, which is supposed to move the cursor to the next occurrence of a character on the current line, works well now. After moving to the first occurrence, i wish i could just press ';' to move to the next occurrence and ',' to move to the previous occurrences. I was having this issue where 'f' was not working at all, but i just reloaded my tab today and it started working.
  • (2024-03-22) Voxelfied: Great product, as it is the only Vim extension on the Chrome Web Store that works for Google Docs. Overall, I would definitely recommend it, but it could use some other additions to navigation. - Using Control Keys for navigation, including Ctrl-E, Ctrl-Y, Ctrl-D, and Ctrl-U for moving the buffer up and down - Fix error where holding keys including 'h', 'k', and 'l' for Vim navigation opens auto suggestions for diacritics - Typing colon will open the option menu on Google Docs, acting as Vim "Command Line" - Fix bug where Vim Visual Line Mode within a paragraph will select the entire paragraph - Finally, additional features that the extension lacks (I understand that this is a new project)
  • (2024-01-18) Konrad Staniszewski: Works great! worth the small fee the developer requests. Would be usefull if it handled doc preview mode.
  • (2024-01-04) robbie robinette: First of all, thank you so much. Even the partial implementation is a huge improvement over the primitive and time consuming editing required for normal google docs. As an instinctive vim user, the incomplete support often creates a train wreck because a sequence of movement and editing commands will yield an unexpected result. If this were a public domain project, it seems like it would be fairly easy to add the missing commands. I'm hopeful that the author will continue to work towards a complete implementation.
  • (2023-11-25) Kelvin Nava: Wow, this is so great. Google Docs is more comfortable with this extension.

  • (2023-11-06) Luciano Panepucci: Needs work but is very responsive. The paragraph object is missing for things like vip or vap, also big word W for moving or viW and lots of other basic features. I'm not against paying but my main concern is that the extension has access to documents contents. This is obviously required but having the extension open source would be nice.

  • (2023-10-04) Tyler McCoy: I disliked it because it only lasts 14 days before being required to pay money. They should allow default configuration to free users but if they want to ask for money they can allow extra options for paying users to customize the config

  • (2023-09-25) Joey Carney: Actually pretty cool, and works well. I got rid of it because it's paid. At the moment it doesn't offer huge advantages over the native Google Docs commands, but I would definitely keep it if it wasn't paid. Seems like the developer is staying active and working on it. Hopefully there'll be an open source version in the future.

  • (2023-09-22) S T: Really excited that this is being handled; I've reached out to the developer and they're very responsive and already working on they bugs and adding feedback to the backlog. Keep up the good work - this is a killer extension!

  • (2023-08-12) Luke Terheyden: It's okay, it has the basics right. It has some bugs, e.g. `{` and `}` don't jump to the next paragraph (in the Vim sense, a blank line), only the next carriage return (a Google Docs paragraph). The cursor can be placed beyond the end of the line (probably a browser limitation though). I don't think you can set custom keymaps or customize in any way, as of this writing. It feels like it's just some JavaScript hooks running on top of Google Docs. I don't mind paying for software, honestly, but it's a little premature, in my opinion, to ask for money for this extension: it's not in the FOSS spirit of Vim, but also this extension is just not nearly at the same quality level as Vimium, Wasavi, or Firenvim (all of which are free IIRC and deserve payment / donations). So I'm taking off another star for this.

  • (2023-06-29) Andy Moran: It’s not yet feature complete, but it offers a lot of the core Vim functionality you’ve come to know and love as a starting point as it continues to be built out. Victor has been awesome in my dealings with him, and has responded promptly to any questions and issues I’ve had!
