Description from store Notation Training is simple tool that helps you to improve your music sheet reading skills. App is designed to be as straightforward as possible and you can start practicing in less than one second. No registration is required. You can use either mouse or keyboard. It should works well on majority of tablets. It is aimed on intermediate practitioners who already know basics and need to speed up their readings. App can easily be used by beginners as a effective and fast way to learn the notes, but there is no clear guidance offered. I am currently supporting all major clefs: treble, bass, treble and alto (violin). I am focusing on basic range (just few ledges bellow and upper). As a supplement there is also ear training, small app that let you learn to recognise basic notes just by your ear.

  • (2015-06-23) not sure if it is a glitch for my download, but you could click any letter and it would insert the correct letter name.

  • (2014-09-11) Jordan Smithson: Horribly over simplified. If you have some basic knowledge of musical theory it might work for you, but not if you're completely new.

  • (2013-07-17) Gregg Virostek: I love the simple functionality, clean interface and basic stats. Probably will buy the pro version for the octave feature and others. Would recommend over most other pitch training apps.
  • (2013-06-17) Javan Stobbart: It wasn't very useful for learning, it was a yes or no based system. No reference for comparison.
  • (2013-03-21) Alper Genç: i can't use ear training.
  • (2013-03-02) Lorena Lewitzka: Stems should be going the right way though, and what about bass clef as well (at least)
  • (2012-12-23) Jenna: Oct 10, 2012 I'm a newbie when it comes to reading sheet music,so when I tried this app for the first time,it taught me NOTHING.It just gave me some notes and I was supposed to type on the keyboard which note it was.I think is best to start this app when your intermediate to train your skill. Dec 23, 2012 Now I'm intermediate and I love this app now. It's NOT a teaching app.
  • (2012-11-01) Bobby (Bobby): This is perfect if you're looking to learn to read the very basics. It won't help with ear training, but I'm looking forward to improving my skills with this, and it seems entirely plausible.
  • (2012-10-25) Suji Choi: It would be better if it coudl change the key not only C major but other keys. and.. Adding sounds would be perfect.
  • (2012-07-24) Florian Weber: I've been making music for years but I always had trouble reading sheet music (I always had to start from the g-line and work myself to certain notes). this app has helped me a lot, and after 1h of practising I can read all notes perfectly. the built in timer is also great! my record is 6 seconds
  • (2012-06-30) Neilor Holanda: just a link. and the site ins't that great.
  • (2012-06-20) Ivan Kutskir: Very nice tool! But I wanted something, where you learn gradually, from few notes to many notes. So I made my own app - search for "Music Pug". What do you think about it?
  • (2012-04-16) Chris Williams: I think this is a fantastic app that really does have great potential. It's already helped me memorise the notes far more quickly than a teacher has done and its quick, easy and simple to do. I would say though that it would be nice to do different scales (this is just C major), so you can include all the sharps/flats and include some rhythms at later "levels". Also I think it would be even better if you were "rewarded" with the sound of the note you get right, so not only can you recognise what's on paper, but also relate sound to paper and vice versa. For someone who's an intermediate or higher at sight reading, I can't say that this will be much help at all but for beginners this is fantastic. Just add some more features in there and this will be a greater app.
  • (2012-04-08) Jānis Grīnvalds: too few options. Must be other note name standarts, incl. historical do-re-mi, then jo-le-ti. For me this app is useless at the moment.
  • (2012-02-16) Ranen Nowlin: It's a great little app that really helps you memorize music notation. I really wish it had a timer on it, so that when you start it starts a stop watch, and when you're finished it stops so you can see your time, and try to finish as quick as possible.
