- Fantastic TTS reader! Probably the best here - better than the premium variety with limitations (often only a few paragraphs) on the amount of words, even characters, they can read for free. One issue though, I haven't been able to read PDFs with this extension. It reads web pages without any problems.

- By default there are no AI voices. Not even a free trial without entering your payment details. This extension also logged me in to https://onlineapp.pro/ automatically without consent.

- The text-to-speech quality is actually very solid, and that part satisfies me, even though there aren’t that many different voices to choose from. However, the extension is currently unusable because it completely screws up video players on many sites (YouTube, Twitch, etc.) - it causes stuttering, video resetting to a random second, and drops frame rate. It doesn’t all happen at the same time, but it does very often. I’m 100% sure TTS Reader is the culprit because I updated everything first (drivers, windows, browser) and then disabled extensions one by one while testing videos. Turns out TTS Reader was the problem. Because of that, and because it wasted a ridiculous amount of my time, I’m giving it 1 star. Now, I am happy to change the rate if they'd fixed it, but for now it's a terrible extension.

- I have very sensitive eyes and struggle to read for long periods of times, I've been looking for something to be able to read ebooks from Everand and this extension works perfectly! You can set it to the smallest font and get 7 minutes read (at 2x speed) before changing the page. The voice is very natural and only reads the actual book - not the page numbers etc.

- I love the voice features, they work great! The only thing missing is a right-click or keyboard shortcut. Add that, and it would easily be a 5-star app.

- It's a good app extension, the way it reads the text is reasonable enough not to sound like more robotic. It sounds normal, though there were some part that (I believe) needs an update. Like it cuts longer or shorter when there's a multiple comma (e.g right, bright, height, etc...). That's the only thing I found to be somewhat annoying, but overall the app extension is good and it's recommendable.

- Cut me off after using it for a while. I would like to purchase a premium account, but there's no way to do so as far as I can tell! Update: I was informed below that there's a way to purchase a premium version, but I'm unable to see how. I found a payment system, but no real information once it was clicked, and no way to actually pay for anything. Second Update: For some reason, it won't read the line: "Previously, you examined operators like less than (<) or greater than (>) and explored how they can be used in filtering numeric and date and time data types. " Also, I see no mention of a trial anywhere.

To address the issue "read local files inside browser", even if you're not a coder, you use VS Code, paste your text in HTML file, just a <p> at each line start for line return, install "Live Server" (Ritwick Dey) ) in VS Code, open the folder of the HTML file then right click "Open with Live Server" >> the text opens in Chrome and is readable.

- Stunningly simple, uses the same voices of the Microsoft Narrator and 'just works', apart from many other extensions I used over years. I don't really have time to get into using all the nifty pro features many of them offer and I don't really need authentic, I need something that does not sounds like a chainsaw in my ear. On the downside, it reads where you point and sometimes reads ALL the page content, not only the text I need. If you look for a quick solution without playing with your registry editor, that's it.

- This Chrome extension is the easiest-to-use text-to-speech tool I've tried so far. In particular, the automatic highlighting of the section being read is extremely helpful. However, there is one issue—when using Japanese text-to-speech and increasing the reading speed to about 1.4x, the pause between sentences becomes excessively long relative to the reading speed, making it quite unpleasant to listen to. It seems that this delay is caused by the time lag before the text is read aloud. There is a noticeable pause after clicking before the speech begins, and this delay also occurs when reading consecutive sentences. I would like the pauses between sentences to be appropriately shortened to match the faster reading speed. Addition: It would be great if there were a feature that allows users to adjust the pause between sentences themselves! For more complex texts, a longer pause might actually make them easier to follow.

- This extension is nearly perfect! Pros: 1. it's free. 2. its audio quality is great and the voice models sound natural. 3. it is easy-to-use and simple. Cons: 1. It doesn't work with local files opened in browser, such as PDFs. (I've tried it on Brave) 2. It cannot read websites opened with the 'Speedreader' of Brave; the extension can be opened, but it won't work. 3. The time it takes to transition to the next sentence and start reading it is unnecessarily long. I would definitely appreciate it if you guys could fix these issues. Nevertheless, I must thank the devs for their amazing product and all their efforts to provide us with it.

- Great extension! Thanks for your hard work, it’s really useful. However, I’ve noticed that when I select a specific paragraph to read, it reads the first paragraph twice. Also, there’s a slight delay when transitioning between paragraphs due to the audio loading. If you could preload the next paragraph, it would eliminate the delay and make the experience even smoother. Keep up the great work, you’re doing an awesome job
