- The Honey browser extension, operated by PayPal Holdings, Inc., has been subject to substantial criticism regarding its operational methodology and potential detriment to consumer interests. First, Honey's core functionality involves intercepting affiliate commission structures by replacing original referral codes with its own tracking parameters at the point of transaction completion, thereby redirecting revenue from content creators, influencers, and legitimate referral sources to PayPal without providing proportionate value to the consumer. Second, the extension's coupon-finding algorithm has been documented to perform suboptimally, frequently failing to identify superior discount codes available through direct merchant channels or competitor services, while simultaneously creating a false impression of comprehensive price optimization. Third, Honey's data collection practices, as outlined in its privacy policy, involve extensive tracking of user browsing behavior, purchase history, and shopping patterns across multiple merchant websites, raising substantive concerns regarding consumer privacy, data monetization, and the potential for undisclosed commercial exploitation of aggregated user information. Fourth, the business model creates an inherent conflict of interest whereby Honey maintains commercial partnerships with select retailers who may receive preferential treatment in code presentation or commission arrangements, potentially compromising the extension's purported neutrality as a consumer advocacy tool. These factors collectively establish a pattern of practice wherein Honey's operational framework prioritizes corporate revenue extraction over genuine consumer benefit, warranting heightened scrutiny from users evaluating browser extension installations.

- This used to be my favorite browser extension, but not any more. Ever since PayPal took over it's become useless and more of a pain than a help. Honey used to offer useful coupons and discounts, not any more. Honey used to droplist items you put into your Amazon lists then notify you when the price drops below a pre-set amount that the user decides, no more. Honey is useless and with PayPal vacuuming up data it's really more malware than anything else.

- I used Honey for years thinking it helped me save money, but recently learned its business model prioritizes their profit, not the best deals for users. I decided to delete my account after redeeming a few thousand pending points, but despite weeks of emails and chat attempts, I got no response. At this point, it feels like a scam.

- Would give zero - DOES NOT display accurate pricing... I had item from Amazon in cart watching price after, a botched delivery resulted in item being sent back, and item prices was significantly higher on "HONEY" than what I paid for it for the same time period... Kept checking price and noting, waiting on "Prime Day" and price was also lower day before "Prime Day" and lower than Honey reported... So I will be uninstalling and disconcontinue the use of Honey - for posting false prices making user think they are getting the "Best Deal"... Will be checking out Capital One shopping extension...

- Honey extension stopped working earlier this year - in spite of my clicking it and verifying points were being earned (on my eBay purchases paid through PayPal!), I got ZERO points. I contacted them, they responded, asked for a ton of information they should have already had, then gave me points to make up for the ones I never got... but didn't fix the issue. Contacted them again and they responded, asked for same information... and have done nothing. I am still not receiving points. I was also advised by my tech guy' to remove it, as it is well-known for 'trackers'... so if it doesn't work, there is no point in keeping it.

- this app is awesome !! never hurts to see if you can save some money, and you can even keep an eye on an item to see if pricing goes down, it will also tell you price in the last 6 months AMAZING
- Tom
- This app has saved me $1000's of dollar since I started using it! It is easy and so helpful.
- Stanton McCandlish
- Useful for price-drop tracking only. The points system is just broken. Despite having this connected to my PayPal account and using it for months, and allowing it at whatever e-commerce site it wants to be allowed at, I have "0 points". Use the Capital One Shopping (formerly WikiBuy) extension instead for that; it really will earn points you can turn into gift cards. Honey is also essentially useless for the coupon-code trying feature. In nearly a year of using this annoying thing, my total coupon code savings is "$0.81", so basically it's always trying to apply expired or otherwise bogus codes. Several times I've had websites lock me out for attempting too many codes, because of what this extension does. The Capital One competing extension also does coupon codes.

- Honey is AWFUL!! I've rarely gotten a coupon that worked. And when I did, it probably always made sure I got a bad one. This scummy extension is also stealing commissions from creators by hijacking last click attribution. If you're reading this, don't install. Switched to Peel for price comparison and Caramel for coupons. Both are privacy-first and use creator affiliate links.
- Mike
- ive never seen it actually find a valid coupon for me
- Abby B
- I've been using Honey for years. I have saved so much money thanks to this browser extension. I've gone to make purchases that I never would've even considered there might be a coupon code for, but the Honey ext reminds me with a prompt and to my delight and surprise, it has found major discounts for me that I'd never have found otherwise. I came here to give it a 5-star rating, but after reading the other reviews and then doing some research about how Honey has stolen the commissions earned by hard-working content creators, affiliates, "influencers", I'm not feeling quite so good about it. At least Google forced them to stop completely ripping off the incomes earned by individuals, but I still don't think they're totally playing fair and I genuinely hope the Class Action Lawsuit results in all those people getting what they earned 10-fold. It it cripples PayPal and Honey gets shut down, I won't be mad at all. I'll celebrate actually. Until then, when I can tell I'm not letting them get credit that's due elsewhere, I'll take the discounts.
- Bradley Salt
- They have started advertising on Google search listings. You must create an account to change settings. Bad development practices. They just want your data. They replace affiliate links with their own to generate revenue. Used to be cool, they got greedy and now are scumbags. Switched to Caramel. They are open source and more privacy forward. They also use creator affiliate links rather than their own.
- Shubham Kushwah
- What an insane scam this is. Just go google The Honey Scam of 2024.

- Used to work, last few times I've tried it its made my cart substantially more expensive 🙃 thanks a lot. BYE

- Great when it works-- but it works seldom. The pop-up to test for coupon codes rarely works on many sites, and the only way you can redeem rewards is through PayPal.
