- It worked like a charm until a few days ago but now it doe nos return anything. I have tried the default configuration, using an api key and changing models to no avail. Ready to change the rating of the extension as soon as it starts working again. I use ChatGPT.

- This Chrome extension is a full-featured summarizer packaged as a manifest v3 extension (version 1.8.9). It includes a background service worker, content script, popup and options pages, a PDF worker, and a WASM module named sha3_wasm_bg.wasm. The manifest grants very broad host_permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*) and requests powerful runtime permissions such as webRequest, scripting, contextMenus, tabs, storage, and unlimitedStorage, enabling the extension to read pages, inject scripts, and potentially observe or modify requests. These broad permissions combined with webRequest and a stored key/update_url present the highest privacy risk points: the extension has the capability to collect and forward page contents or intercept traffic; whether it does depends on background code (which is minified in this package). The presence of pdf.worker.js and a WASM hash module points to on-device PDF parsing and hashing, which can be used for summarizing file content locally (good) or computing fingerprints (privacy risk if uploaded). To become privacy-respectful, changes should remove wide host permissions, avoid webRequest, shift to activeTab and optional permissions, and require explicit user-provided API keys when remote models are used.

- I really like the app and have been using it since gpt 4 came out however the issue is that many times even when you can see it fetches the transcript it says failed to fetch. Im not sure why it happens maybe its got something to do with ad blockers however it's been hit or miss for quite a few months.

- Chat functionality (asking questions) doesn't work at all with youtube videos. Can't change the length of the output - it seems to be always a very short summary with no way of generating a longer one. The description claims that the extension is open source (I wanted to change the length for myself) but the repository doesn't contain any source code - a bit suspicious.

- 3/6/2025 Newest It assume that if input & output languages are different, it fails to summerize. When I try to output summery from a English video to Japanese, it fails. I have no problem if I try it from a Japanese video to Japanese. Also from a English video to English summery has no issue. 30/5/2025 Upateded This issue has been updated and fixed! Thank you for your effort! love 17/5/2025 First post I use it in Japanese setting. {{CONTENT}} tag in the prompt seems not working. ChatGPT side might update the setting? Please deal with the problem. Thank you.

- Security concern! The extension works great and the usage experience is right what I was looking for but... 1. The "Ask Questions" feature is unnecessarily calling the `text-embedding-ada-002` end point, which makes think it could be using my API key for something else than summarizing and answering questions about web content. 2. The extension is not open-source. The repository is blank and the author has no activity on github. I'll still use it with a specific API key with limited privilages, and I recommend you do the same. I hope the author clarifies these points and I'll be happy to change my review.

- I’ve been using this extension for a while, but today when I tried to summarize a YouTube video, it started giving me personal information—like when I moved, when I became a father, where I live, and a lot more. I have no idea how it got all that, and it didn’t even summarize the video—it summarized me instead. Let me know If I did something wrong with the extension.

- I'm getting the error "failed to fetch" and "Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.". Edit: I found out that it does not work behind my corporate firewall. If I use a VPN or I am home it works great.

- Excellent. No cost. You just register your Open API key and that's it. Simple, fast, very good. One lacking feature (possibly premium) that I want you to implement is adding shared space of gpt summarization for the same content.
