RouteGPT is a Chrome extension for chatgpt.com that automatically selects the right OpenAI model for your prompt based on preferences you define. Instead of switching models manually, RouteGPT handles it for you — like automatic transmission for your ChatGPT experience.
For example:
“creative novel writing, story ideas, imaginative prose” → GPT-4o
“critical analysis, deep insights, and market research ” → o3
🔒 Requires ChatGPT Plus and a quick local install (see below)
🧠 Step 1: Download Ollama: https://ollama.com/download
📦 Step 2: Pull the Arch-Router model via the following command in your terminal: ollama pull hf.co/katanemo/Arch-Router-1.5B.gguf:Q4_K_M
🌐 Step 3: Start Ollama with CORS settings
* On macOS or Linux (bash/zsh): OLLAMA_ORIGINS=* ollama serve
* On Windows PowerShell: $env:OLLAMA_ORIGINS="*"
ollama serve
This allows the RouteGPT extension running in Chrome to communicate with your local router securely.
Powered by the lightweight Arch-Router (https://github.com/katanemo/archgw), RouteGPT makes multi-model usage seamless and personalized.
