Anonymous 2026-04-27: Love the to do list feature and grades tab, (since it allows me to see overall grades for classes that have that ability to see them disabled), but what I assume was a recent update occurred and for some reason won't let me load and access only the grades tab :( (this could be a me issue, which is something I checked)

Anonymous 2026-04-27: The update deleted all of my themes that I worked so hard to create and now i cant find anything. Im not sure why the update had to happen all all but especially during finals week?? just went to look at my last minute study material for my test and i spent the whole time trying to figure out where everything is at. If there is a way to revert back to the themes/setting I had spent forever making please let me know!!!
Anonymous 2026-04-27: I rarely ever write reviews but felt the need to after the recent rebranding. Better canvas changed from a sleek design and minimal changes to what feels like corporate featureslop in an attempt to milk money out of its users. All I wanted was a nice looking to do list and now I have popups asking me to sign in and a worse UI than before. Why change something that was perfectly functional?
Anonymous 2026-04-27: This most previous update seems to be made by people who fundamentally misunderstand why people originally used BetterCanvas. Canvas by itself is bulky and has far more subpages than are ever needed. BetterCanvas provided a resolve to that by allowing people to have a service that condensed Canvas into a cleaner package that offered greater usability in most cases. This most recent update has undone that. Introducing AI features nobody asked for, LOCKING FEATURES AVAILABLE ON BASIC CANVAS BEHIND PAYWALLS, and making the service so bulky that it fundamentally misunderstand why people liked it in the first place: to simplify canvas and make it more usable. To the developers: you may have invested a great deal of money into the update and be hesitant to undo it, but if your choice comes down to either losing the money invested into this redesign, or losing the majority of users on this service, I implore you to choose the previous. This update's paywalls have made the service functionally unusable.
Anonymous 2026-04-27: The layout when this extension was BetterCanvas was much better. Now you have two sections for streaks, two sections for what you have coming up, and two assignment wheels. It looks terrible, but that's just complaints for the layout. Every other 1 star review about this "update" is correct, and should be read. To the developers: STOP WITH THE AUTOMATIC REPLY AND ACTUALLY LISTEN TO US!
Anonymous 2026-04-27: I never write reviews, but this new update is perhaps one of the most egregious rebrands and a shameless money grab. I am so sick of apps making you pay to have things function as they are intended to. This extension used to be non-invasive, helpful, and convenient on Canvas. Now, it's bulky, overtaken by AI, and overrun by popups. It screams out of touch millennial computer science grads who hope meatriding AI and milking STUDENTS for subscription money we do not have will make their useless degrees worthwhile. ALSO, what a choice to be so disruptive during finals.

Anonymous 2026-04-26: I never write any reviews, but I have to say this new update is atrocious. I loved how BetterCanvas was not invasive, let me see my grades on the dashboard, and was an overall nice extension. With this new update, it is extremely invasive, constant popups, a complete overhaul of canvas, and very annoying. Within minutes of the new update I turned off the extension and I'm planning on removing it fully. What a shame. Went from a perfect extension to something pretty bad.
Anonymous 2026-04-26: Okay what just happened. I loved this extension before the update (back when it was "BetterCanvas"). The new features completely destroyed the fonts, the UI is way more cluttered, and the new sidebar looks hideous. I'm not sure why the choice was made to ruin the extension but it would be nice to have an option to revert it back.
Anonymous 2026-04-26: Horrendous update. Not intuitive at all. Completely change the UI. I get constant prompts to login to this new "Better Campus". I don't want to make a separate account, and I don't want to share my data with other students. And you update it in the middle of finals? Terrible execution and planning. I declined to make a Better Campus account, and now all my grades and class cards are blocked out. Doesn't matter if I decline, because there are constant popups asking me to login. I am uninstalling and going back to vanilla Canvas.
Anonymous 2026-04-26: worst update ever. it's hideous, the ui is cluttered, and it doesn't even let you customize to your full ability. the ai study tools are completely unneeded and clicking on grades directs you to some completely different dashboard that's never been a part of canvas. and the developers are being very stubborn about changing it even though 90% of users dislike the update. they act like they want to listen to users and improve it but when everyone says to revert it suddenly they get hostile. very unprofessional and bad at reading their user base.
Anonymous 2026-04-26: I rarely write google reviews but it needs to be done for this instance. I understand the creators have worked very hard at these new changes but, as a university student, this extension has made canvas practically impossible to use!!! All these new layout changes and insane add-ons are confusing to navigate (mid-finals season mind you). It's visual clutter nonsense. We didn't ask for a completely new website, we just wanted some simple cute themes for a site we HAVE to use for our education... At the very least add an option for the old vers. In the meantime I've been forced to uninstall.

Anonymous 2026-04-26: By far the worst update this extension has ever had. I had to turn off every new feature, as the new layout (and ESPECIALLY the to-do list) are absolutely terrible, bloated, and WAY too chaotic. Also, the AI additions to this extension were absolutely unnecessary. We asked for more themes, NOT a wasteful AI assistant. The original charm of BetterCanvas was that it added useful features to the site without changing it into a completely new one. Features that were small and mostly to make the site more visually pleasing. Something simple. Now, I've lost most of the features I had before, as I've had to turn off the terrible new UI features and the to-do list. This new update is nowhere near student friendly. It's unnecessarily stressful, especially in finals season. I will no longer be recommending this extension to anyone.

Anonymous 2026-04-24: I LOVED better canvas/campus until this recent update. The UI is so overwhelmed with features, I genuinely can't tell where any of my stuff is anymore. It's crammed with way too many things that it got rid of what made it good in the first place, it's simplicity and making what needs to be done clear and easy to find :(

Anonymous 2026-04-24: New UI is so bloated and now canvas runs so slow on my laptop :( It also completely wrecked my custom theme which I had because of my bad vision. Lots of buttons with the theme editing just don't work so I can't even try to "revert" it. The redesign completely messed this extension up, and now so many things that were unlimited free to use before were locked behind a login?????? bro this is a canvas extension!!

Anonymous 2026-04-24: Great Extension! Maybe too many things, but overall pretty nice. Except when you start the free trial, they don't remind you a day before it renews for a subscription. Messaged customer support and they got back to me, so I should be getting that refund back. I did like when it was simple back then though, like less UI. The AI is kind of unnecessary, but can be useful.

Anonymous 2026-04-23: This new update is extremely frustrating. I spent hours on my own Canvas theme to have it perfectly set for me, and now it's all gone and I'm unsure of how to get it back. The new UI is unsatisfying, and it sucks that there's a random subscription thing now??? BetterCanvas was perfect the way it was before, I don't understand making a change like this that everyone hates. Why "update" the extension just to make it worse?
Anonymous 2026-04-23: HATE THE UPDATE. I LOVED (past tense) betterCanvas and Tasks for Canvas before. I actually am super upset about the forced update during finals. This is the worst possible timing. Also? Now changing the theme is limited unless you pay?????!! I got betterCanvas so I could do cute custom themes. Deleting my theme during finals week, adding unwanted features that crowd my dashboard, and putting things behind a paywall is ruining the whole experience for me. Deleting and I'll find a new extension
Anonymous 2026-04-23: This new update is horrible and implementing it during finals is such a bad move. More specifically, the "Due" dropdown isn't showing what's due for half of my classes (it was working before the update and I double checked to see that they are still under "assignments"). Also this update is just way too much in general. We downloaded this extension because we wanted a better Canvas, not a completely different UI. Please change it back for the sanity of myself and others.
Anonymous 2026-04-23: Why so much stuff added? Even if I wanted this much stuff I would have preferred to have separate extensions. Why do I have to sign in now to look at the same themes I could before the update? I also don't see why you could not have just made this a separate extension that you switched your focus to. I, and many other students, just wanted the simple features like seeing tasks both attached to the class and on the side of the dashboard, being able to change the theme/pictures for class cards, and changing the names of the classes. Things that made Canvas easier to use, now I think its too complicated and more than Canvas.
Anonymous 2026-04-23: This went from a useful extension that helps clear up canvas and make simple changes for free. Now with the new UI classes are harder to find and access, previously free features that are built into normal canvas are now hidden behind a subscription, the Dashboard is cluttered, and on top of it all is the fact that the simplicity is gone requiring a whole tutorial to use. This is by far one of the biggest downgrades I've seen in a product and shows the greed behind the developers.
Anonymous 2026-04-23: I strongly dislike the new UI, just feels more clunky and complicated. Harder to navigate. You guys literally broke the 'what if' section too. Can you guys at LEAST give us some kind of, classic version toggle? So that way everyone has a choice to have the old UI or the new UI if they'd like.

Anonymous 2026-04-21: I've been using BetterCanvas for around 2 years now, and I've never had any complaints with it. It has been perfect and free, which is nice because it is advertised for students. That said, the new update is so bad and came out of nowhere. My entire Canvas page looks different. Mind you, it's finals season, and people do not have time to figure out the basically brand-new extension. Please listen to the people who have steadily supported this extension and fix whatever y'all did because it's horrible.
Anonymous 2026-04-20: Honestly glad the GitHub page still exists so I can downgrade. I don't want to add another subscription to this app that consistently changes for the worse rather than the better.
Anonymous 2026-04-20: I used to use Tasks for Canvas and then had to switch over to this tool instead because Tasks is being shut down. Unfortunately, this tool is incredibly annoying to use because they update their features without notifying their users, so users are forced to relearn features again. Additionally, the announcement tab on their taskbar does not update, so I have missed some important announcements from professors, such as a class cancellation. I would definitely not recommend using this product. I will be deleting this from my Chrome immediately, which is a shame because it took a long time to onboard myself to this system (since they force you to create an account and customize all of your features).
Anonymous 2026-04-20: I lused to love better campus, but now it is hard to use. It only workes when I first login in but when i click on anything other than the home page it goes away. I hate redownloading it sevrale time for it to not work.
Anonymous 2026-04-20: After the update I can't even use canvas with this enabled. Every time I open canvas the intro slide plays and the screen goes white, then chrome is unresponsive. DO NOT INSTALL until this is fixed.

I dont understand why they make such a big change (maybe for money ngl). I always get the stupid better campus intro every time I open up any page. I DONT WANT TO LOG IN. This is an extension. Anonymous 2026-04-19: I've been using BetterCanvas for about 2 years, and while the majority of the update is good stuff (I appreciate that I can turn a majority of the new features off and how much easier the new theme menus are to use), I still have some issues with the new update. The to-do list in particular is frustrating me, because if you don't like the new UI for it, you're out of luck in terms of customization. In particular, I don't like how you can only organize the to-do list by date in the new UI, and with no option to limit the amount of tasks in the to-do list, like how there was originally. I know that if you turn the new to-do UI off, you can still kind of have that, but you also completely lose the customization options, too. I wish there an was an in-between where you could still have at least some of the customization options there were in BetterCanvas (like assignment colors matching the classes, minimizing the amount of info in the assignment cards, etc.) with just the regular to-do list. Are there any plans to change the to-do list or add more customization options for it? I've also been having some weird issues since the update. Like, the canvas page will reset at random and prompt me to log in again sometimes, which was not an issue before. I'm sure it'll be ironed out in the future because this is still a relatively new update, but it's worth mentioning.
Anonymous 2026-04-19: I don't know what they did to this update to add in this bug, but every time I open a new tab, or just click on something that changes the current tab, it shows me the stupid BetterCampus logo and intro again. It happens when I do literally anything. Why change what was there?! It was simple and it worked, now I had to go and search through this miserable menu to turn off stuff like AI integration. SPEAKING OF, opening the settings also causes the logo and intro to reappear, making me have to click through the whole thing again. I tried to set up an account thinking that it might cause this to stop, and I cant even do that. I'm stuck on a verifying screen and nothing happens. It makes me feel like this update was coded with Claude at 3am on a Tuesday with glue all over the keyboard.
Anonymous 2026-04-19: LOVE IT!! I tried the free version, which was amazing as is, but decided I wanted to try premium.. and it was so cool! There were so many interactive features, I was able to better organize things, and it was helping me a lot. I reached out to the devs about an issue and it was quickly resolved, and they were so nice I almost felt bad lol. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!!
Anonymous 2026-04-18: I found this extension while browsing different extensions that are compatible with Canvas and it was really amazing🤩. Being honest at first I couldnt believe I found an extension that redesigns Canvas into a custom and more better LMS. I am so sad that I have found this extension by the end of the trimester😭 but no worries, the upcoming trimesters will be a breeze thanks to this tool. After using it for a while, I checked the reviews specifically the negative ones. I am so sad that most people are criticizing this tool. I can see the effort and restless nights of the developers who have put their time, money and effort into this tool and on the other hand some fellas are saying bad things about it?? Seriously, the premium features cant even limit you from making good use from this tool. So i find no reason to say anything bad about this tool at all. Btw, BetterCampus' Devs, THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH for this extension🫶
Anonymous 2026-04-18: So... I was using Tasks for canvas and had a pop up come up for this that it is being switched over. Okay, fine, my autistic self will TRY to learn something new. As I clicked through the tabs it prompted to set up an account. Okay, sure. I tried google.... nothing happened. It gets stuck on a spinning wheel of death that says "verifying". I tried outlook, same thing, then just by email.... same... thing... From previous reviews it looks like you changed things, which I hope does not effect what I would like to use it for. If I can ever get in, I shall see. Edit to add that there is also an option to try pro for $0 but when I click that it says "Request to server failed"
Anonymous 2026-04-17: I’ve been using BetterCampus primarily for their Notes section, and it has been a great tool for staying organized and keeping track of my work. The interface is simple and easy to use, which makes studying much more efficient. I also had an issue with a charge, and their team was responsive and agreed to process a refund, which I really appreciated. Overall, a helpful platform with good customer support.
Anonymous 2026-04-17: When I saw the update to BetterCampus I got very worried because I saw a ton of AI integration and thought I would have to disable the extension because I work with some pretty sensitive information in my counseling program. I am so thankful there is a toggle to disable any AI integration, as I think that might leave a sour taste in a lot of mouths. No other extension does a better dark mode than this extension and I'm happy to continue using it for the one last semester I have of my graduate degree. All of the first-time pop-ups did get a little annoying for me since I couldn't disable them without going through them first but that was my only gripe. For the most part, no features from before were paywalled and I can still keep my canvas almost exactly the same way it used to be.
Anonymous 2026-04-16: I have been using Better Campus for years and just recently with the rebrand, I was unable to use the extension. After trial and error, I reached out to the development team who was very responsive, and even got on a call with me to see if they could determine the cause. Turns out, it was my own fault (behind on computer updates), but in the end the issue was resolved! They did not make me feel bad for it being my own fault essentially and were just happy I could continue to use the service. You typically do not see this kind of customer service and I was impressed. As far as Better Campus, I will continue to use this service as long as I am in college and will always recommend it!
