Until now, it has not been possible to stream audio directly from youtube or any other platform directly from the browser to a Sonos system. Casttosonos offers a similar experience as the cast to Chromecast feature in chrome browsers.

- The Sonos app has many issues as we all know. There is no native connection in the Youtube Music app to Sonos like in Spotify. But, I do not like Spotify as well. For me, the main issues with the Sonos app is that it skips when playing Youtube Music, sometimes does not show me my libraries, and does not allow you to indicate a thumbs up or down to the song that is playing. So, I would like something better. I first tried this extension a year or so ago. It frequently disconnected back then so I abandon it. But I had a few days last month where the Sonos app would not show me my playlists so I started searching again for a better solution. This Chrome extension now allows me to reliably cast Youtube Music from my PC to my Sonos system without skipping or disconnecting. It does not yet run on my android, but I can run it on a PC and then control the PC from my Android with remote desktop control. The extension can do volume control, but through the remote control app, the slider is too small to reliably make adjustments. So I still use the Sonos app to group speakers and to control the volume from my phone (some future improvement opportunities!) I have been using this combo for a few weeks now and, while a bit clunky, I think it is better than dealing with the Sonos issues. In addition, the developer, Sem, is very earnest about improving his product. He contacted me, as a registered user, without prompting to ask if I had suggestions. He explained that since I first tried the app he had moved the backend to a more robust server setup so the disconnecting is much reduced. He is serious about customer support and this says a a lot. I wish him well.

- I absolutely love this extension. It finally lets me play YouTube straight to my Sonos speakers—huge win when so many of the extended mixes I work to don’t exist on any other service than Youtube. The developer has been fantastic to work with, quick to respond, and even quicker to fix the small issues that came up. I’d buy this again in a heartbeat, and I’m genuinely excited to see what Sem builds next. If you’re on the fence, just grab it—the price is fair, and it unlocks even more value from gear you’ve already invested quite a few dollars in.

- Sees my Play:3 speaker, but hitting play in the chrome extension does nothing. And when I go into sonos app itself hitting play does nothing as well. Just stays stuck on paused. Tried using a VPN in case you servers were blocking my IP, but no luck. Tried on Youtube and Bandcamp. Same results. Ridiculous that in the year 2025 we don't have an easy free way to cast youtube to a sonos speaker.

- It does the job. I can cast sports audio to my Sonos. Quit often I need to re-install the add-in to reconnect. But it's just two clicks and very quick.

- Wanted to be able to play from Bandcamp to Sonos and searched and found this app for Chrome. Installed and ran it with in minutes. Brilliant!

- Works as advertized, and the free mode is sufficient to test whether or not streaming works for your preferred media site (it did for mine). The extension also does not harvest your login credentials, but simply asks you to authorize it to interact with your system using the "official means" (=API) provided by Sonos. From then on, interaction with the extension is similar to the "cast this tab" experience. Note that there are several seconds of delay between, so don't expect this to work as a replacement for PC speakers for video/gaming. It's fine for listening to podcasts or music, when you are not switching tracks quickly all the time.

- This extension has worked well for me. It does what it claims - casts audio from a chrome tab to a SONOS speaker. I have 9 SONOS speakers, and really want something that will cast from Chrome to multiple SONOS speaker simultaneously. So, although I wish it had greater functionality, it does what it is intended to do.

- One star for working and easy connectivity but there's a large lag between what's on the screen and the audio. Fine if you're just listening to something but if you're watching it, it's a huge pain.

- Thank you so much. Got the Sonos as a gift over a year ago, finally decided to set it up. I was so surprised that this was not possible by default. After using this extension I was instantly able to cast my music from my browser to the Sonos.

- Works fine. Sometimes need to tap extension item a few times to recognize system. Yes there is heavy delay but as others say that is acceptable for music. It is a great Sonos enhancement for free for that I give it 5 stars. Sometimes it ends up a bit distorted (maybe WIFI issue) but usually quite OK quality.

- Worked the first time, but doesn't work the next day anymore. After multiple tries and on different devices - says can't find my Sonos system. I also powered off the Sonos and tried again, still the same result. Unusable now. Thanks for letting me use it once yesterday.

- The app works well. The latency is high but not a limitation for music. No idea if this is related to the Sonos Control API. Edit: I just saw that you explained the reason for the delay in an older comment.

- Datenkrake, mehr nicht. Warum sollte ich dieser Erweiterung die Daten meines Sonos-Accounts geben? Das ist für die Nutzung nicht erforderlich, Apps/Programme wie Spotify finden auch ohne Login die im Netzwerk vorhandenen Lautsprecher..

- Macht genau das was es machen soll - den Audio Stream aus einem einzelnen Chrome Tab an Sonos übertragen. So kann man z.B. Musik von Youtube oder soundcloud direkt auf Sonos hören. Eignet sich allerdings "nur" für Musik und weniger für Video, da es einen ziemlich dicken Delay gibt (liegt vermutlich an Sonos? Keine Ahnung). Ansonsten funktioniert die Extension bei mir einwandfrei 👍
