X Unfollow Assistant - Free Bulk Unfollow for X

X Unfollow Assistant helps you review the accounts you follow on X and decide which ones to keep or remove, all from your own logged-in browser session.

What it does:

Builds a local review queue from your Following list
Supports all-following and non-follower review modes
Lets you filter by follower count, follow ratio, account age, posting recency, avatar type, and verified status
Supports dry-run previews before any live removals
Lets you protect specific accounts and maintain an allowlist
Shows a full local results page with matched accounts, processed results, and exports
Applies safety pacing with cooldowns during longer runs
How it works:

The extension runs inside your own browser on x.com
It uses your currently logged-in X session to collect the data needed for review
It stores settings, run state, and results locally in extension storage
It does not require a separate backend account or remote dashboard

Single purpose
Help users review and manage the accounts they follow on X from their own logged-in browser session.

Data use summary

The extension reads data from x.com pages and X list requests so it can review Following/Follower relationships and apply the user’s chosen filters.
Settings, run state, protected handles, allowlist entries, and results are stored locally in chrome.storage.local.
The extension also stores locally captured X session auth values used to request the user’s own follower/following list data inside the browser.
No external backend or remote analytics service is used by the extension.
The extension does not sell user data.
The extension does not transfer user data to third parties.
The extension does not use user data for advertising or unrelated purposes.
Permissions justification

activeTab: interact with the current X tab when the user starts a run
tabs: locate or open the user’s X tab and results page
storage: save local settings, run state, and results
alarms: resume after cooldown periods
https://x.com/* and https://twitter.com/*: operate on X pages and collect the user’s own follow/follower data
Test Instructions

Use a logged-in X test account you control.

Install the extension and pin it.
Open https://x.com/home while logged in.
Click the extension icon.
Enter the same X handle as the account currently logged in.
Click Preview Matches.
Confirm that the results page opens and matched accounts appear.
Try Only people who do not follow back to verify non-follower review mode.
Try one filter such as Min followers or Only verified and confirm the results update.
Confirm that Advanced opens and settings save locally.
For a live-action test, use a throwaway X account and click Remove Matched Accounts.
Reviewer notes

The extension intentionally blocks runs if the entered handle does not match the currently logged-in X account.
Preview mode does not unfollow accounts.
Live removals require the reviewer to use an X account they control.
