Exta: Pro downloader for Instagram is the easiest Browser Extension to help you downloading images and videos from Instagram easily and quickly.
►Download Instagram's image on current page
It automatically detects if you are viewing an Instagram's photo and creates a multi-formats link to the file so you can click to download it easily. In popup window you'll see a miniature photo you're about to download. Click "Download" button to save photo in your device.

It automatically detects if you are viewing an Instagram's video and creates a multi-formats link to the file so you can click to download it easily. In popup window you will see a miniature Video, Video you're about to download. Click "Download" button to save Video on your device.
► Supported mass download of selected post or series of stories of a selected user in one click! Which means you can download viewed images, videos or stories from current user or multiple post as zip-file!
► For mass downloading simply click on the Exta Downloader button in the Instagram navigation menu
- The icon with single arrow downloads only one Photo or Video (the one you are viewing at the moment)
- The icon with double arrow downloads the entire multiple post or all Stories of a selected user

It is an unofficial extension that is developed and maintained independently. The official Instagram software is only released for smart phones and the web. This unofficial app (browser extension) is a wrapper to the original Instagram web application and tries to make it usable as a browser plug-in.
Exta: Pro Downloader for Instagram may occasionally open a separate tab with promotional content to help keep the extension free. No personal data is used for advertising, and browsing history is never sold or shared. Promotional content can be disabled at any time in the extension settings.

- The best so far, anything can be downlod form IG, and I not aware for hidden tab, its ok IF IT for ads, just bit scary cause open at random moment, shoulve just open when using this. other than that good job dev

- Although it works fine but the download speed is too slow. It does not utilize the whole bandwidth. How I figured this out ? I tried multiple videos with this extension and with another extension. Is this intentional ?

- Not working .... It says network issue..., saw in the Network Panel that the request returned 200, however the download failed. using latest Chrome

- Opens a hidden pinned tab (if you're paying attention, you will see it before it closes) and adds their affiliate cookies. This should be REMOVED by Chrome - be VERY wary. This thing STORES your data somewhere persistently and checks EVERY website you visit.

- After the new update it downloads only 12 reels ! * What exactly are you trying to download: posts, reels, or something else? Trying to download reels * From which account (the account you are downloading from, not your own)? From my alt account, not being logged in to that account but to at my main * Do all downloads turn into text files instead of mp4, or only some of them? Downloads are .mp4 but only 12 download

- I don't know why, but now the file names are random. Unlike before, when there were account names and dates.

- Used to work magnificently as it snagged items that other downloaders don't even catch; but now I cannot download beyond 12 items, and can't even download them individually as they end up as a text file instead of an mp4... So this plugin is dead until they update it. EDIT: The only reason why I haven't removed it is because the authors of this program still answers people's feedback, so they get a point for that!

- Worked great for a long time but when the new version with ads was implemented I can no longer download en mass only individual posts which is too much work. I selected the allow ads option but it still doesn't work properly.

- Promotional advertising is now mandatory to use the extension. When there are other extensions that are capable of doing everything this does minus the adverts there isn't much reason to use it anymore.

- An almost perfect downloader for best quality pictures and reels. My only issue is that the date stamp on downloads should be YYYY-MM-DD.

- ONLY USE THIS ON BURNER ACCOUNTS FOR NOW Technically this works great, but this will get your account banned pretty quickly when mass downloading. There isn't even an option that randomizes time delays between downloads... this is like... absolutely vital. this is a pretty awesome program that has some absolutely fatal flaws, i remain hopeful also, timestamps are M/D/Y which is infuriating since it's INSANELY annoying to sort. Y/M/D would be an automatic chronological sort in most filesystems.

- The extension works functionally, but there are clear red flags. The privacy policy mentions promotional content and notifications that can supposedly be disabled, yet the “Enable promotional content” and “Enable promotional notifications” toggles do not save or take effect. Combined with vague wording about anonymous identifiers being sent to a server, this significantly reduces trust. Transparency and proper opt-out functionality are needed.

- You extension is the best of all the available lot in the store. But one advise to make it even better. When downloading a Instagram carousel, make sure the files names of all the images/ videos are in sequential order. This will help a lot a data management. Currently while downloading the images file name are not in sequential order.

- Works perfectly! The only thing that it's missing is the ability to change which folder the downloads automatically go to. As far as I can tell, you can't change it from the default 'downloads' folder, and I want to be able to pick a different folder to download to. One of the other Instagram downloader extensions allowed you to change which folder downloads went to in the extension's settings, so I know it can be done.

- Around 23:45 UTC on September 19, 2025, saved file names changed to incomprehensible alphanumeric strings. Previously, file names followed the format: account_type(story/post/reel)_date_time_long number. This was an extremely valuable and useful feature of this extension. As it stands, identifying saved files has become extremely difficult and is causing significant problems. We urgently request that the original file naming convention be restored. Response (September 25, 2025) Thank you for your response. Following your advice, I investigated the impact of other extensions one by one. As a result, disabling Video DownloadHelper (VDH) restored the original filename rules. Since VDH had been enabled for a long time without issues, it appears a recent update of VDH introduced this adverse effect. While addressing such specific issues may have limitations, I would appreciate improvements to prevent such adverse effect. Based on this findings, and since the phenomenon was consistent across all accounts I tested, I will omit sharing the link. I have updated rating from the one submitted on 9/22.

- Works well except for one bug: when downloading a multi-image post into a zip file it preserves the account name at the start of the filenames, however when downloading a single-image post it drops the account name from the start of the filename. And yes, I've removed any other add-ins as a test, doesn't make a difference.

- So far so good...well, great actually, and I can tell you why. There are many Instagram Downloaders in the CHROME WEB STORE. Most of them do not work correctly or you get a connection error. You still get the widgets and so forth, thinking they will work, but they don't. In addition, EXTA downloads them in the best available quality. In this regard, if the original is not good enough to upscale, then you get the best version. There are plenty of AI Apps if you want a great 1080p upscale. I'm happy enough to blog EXTA on my website. I'm in the music industry, and most of my colleagues will appreciate this app. 5 STARS! *One more GREAT feature, when you have the app open when you're online, and select the EXTA button - you have the option of doing a super quick download of your last 100 views.
