This extension gives you control over how you save images. With a simple right-click, you can choose to save any image in your preferred format:

Note About Save Locations
Chrome always defaults to your Downloads folder when saving files. For faster access to other folders, consider adding bookmarks to frequently used locations in Chrome's file picker dialog.
