How to use:
- Go to any YouTube video and hit Ctrl-S or click the extension icon.
You will need:
- YouTube Data API Key
YouTube Data API Key:
- The extension uses YouTube Data API for its core functionality.
- An API key is needed to access public data like comments and videos.
- Generating a key is free and does not identify or reveal information about the user.
- You can try the extension without a key before taking the time to generate one.

- Great, it does appear the comments which is what I was looking for, very helpful. And here's a suggestion, how about if you can click on the comment the search app found and teleports you to the original spot of the comments to see that one comment.

- Works fine and I prefer it over YCS because it has a less cluttered and intrusive interface. Small wishlist: 1) Add scroll bar to the search result window, so you have some orientation and an alternative to using the mouse wheel to scroll. 2) Add a small button/search field somewhere below the video, so I don't have to access the extension via Chromes menu every time. 3) Provide a way to jump to a specific comment on youtube itself, so you can like/reply/etc.

- for this short time i used it, it works great! but i was searching for this kind of engine to find comments and be able to interact with it, sadly you can only view the comments, not like or comment or reply

- It doesn't find partial words. For example, this is the original comment "They sound like dying frogs from Beverly Hills." I search "frogs", it finds the word. "frog", it still finds. But when I search "fr", it doesn't find any result.

- This tool is only for English? I can't search in Vietnamese. Additionally, I want to search for comments in all the videos I have commented on, what should I do?

- Really like this extension. However, as someone previously mentioned, earlier it was possible to use the extension without using the API key at all. Now, I had to go through the entire process of generating a youtube API key to make it work. Also YCS had a useful feature of searching up via commentors username, something which could be useful when one is specifically looking for comments made by that one person. With YCS gone, it would be cool if this could be added in.

- I am using this extension Comments Search for Youtube (CSFY) to replace Youtube Comment Search (YCS) extension, which stopped working in the past month. CSFY seemingly requires an API key to use, but if you click "What is Youtube API key?" then the extension gives you the option to try without the key. I have a feeling this a sign that Youtube will eventually require an API Key for these types of search extensions. CSFY doesn't search content such as the transcript and chat like YCS did, but strictly comments is sufficient for me for now. Thank you!

- causes all my youtube tabs to refresh on all devices. will only enable in chrome beta for now. so i dont have all my tabs refresh on my main chrome browser

- with YCS out of commission, this is the next best alternative, but I don't know why we can't search with ':', it would help to locate comments with timestamps, go ahead and add all the YCS features :)

- Does not work. When I click ctrl-s, a dialog box appears asking me for my YouTube Data API key. That's it. Edit: In response to LettApp ... it gives me that message but I can't type anything. It's just a dialog box with no search field. Your instructions say to press ctrl-s and search. I think you need to update your instructions. I just says "invalid key"

- Been using this Comment Searcher for a while and still works great!!!!!! Looks clean too!!! although wish i could reply to comments or see replys to a comment, but i understand that would be a PITA to get working!!!!

- Great extension, It has fast performance and does everything claimed. I feel some basic instructions to get the API key would help some, just to make it easier. Would also be great if the searched comments could be interacted with, and perhaps some more filtering options.

- Your extension was causing my scrollbar to disappear . After diabling all extensions (5 in total) and turning them on one by one , It is clear it was an issue with your extension.

- Why is asking for a YouTube api key evetime I search for a comment ?, is so annoying. 3 of 5 *stars Update1 : I asked gtp how and was not to hard but I got my key. Update2 : This extension doesn't work, just 1/3 of times the extension found the word (inside the comment I was looking for), I double check that the comment was still there and not delete it by YouTube but this extension wont recognize it. 2 of 5*stars

- Very nice but it will be helpful if we replay for the comment through the extension instead of going back to YT comment to find the comment again and they replay on YT!!

- This is an awesome extensions. It has a very clean UI and makes it easy to search topics within comments. It would highly benefit from having a simple clean button bar to sort by timestamps, links, creator, members, reply, liked (by the creator), liked (by other members), etc. Keep it up!
