Description from store Keep track of how political campaigns target you with social media ads while anonymously helping international research projects understand how election results are influenced by social media advertising. The plugin identifies political ads from major parties and candidates, so you can review their content and targeting. The ads you contribute may be shared with reputable research projects and journalists. Our goal is to exemplify the transparency accountability people should expect from social media platforms and political campaigns to increase the trustworthiness of modern democracy. The project has been covered by the BBC, New York Times, CNN and many others. Who Targets Me is currently available in 12 languages and provides personalised results in over 20. A full list of languages, countries and our partners can be found on our website: https://whotargets.me/international How to use Who Targets Me: - Install the browser extension - Create an anonymous profile (your age, location, gender and political leaning) - Use Facebook and other social media platforms as usual - Click the plugin from time to time to see who is trying to influence your views with political ads What the plugin captures: - Facebook ads, their content and targeting What the plugin doesn't capture: - Any other type of post - Any personal information You can choose to stop participating in the project at any time and, should you wish to, delete the ads you've contributed to the project.

  • (2021-03-09) Przemyslaw Bielicki: I just noticed I have it installed but besides active add-on I see no other impact. What is it really doing ? Isn't it actually targeting me ?
  • (2019-10-15) Maklane deWever: Very interesting. Quite happy with the download.
  • (2019-06-14) George Forth: Just sits there saying "Loading, thank you for your patience". It's been several weeks. Still waiting.
  • (2019-05-20) n ascentt: Installed as I am curious what personal information untrusted websites have gathered on me. Am told I need to fill in an anonymous questionnaire before I start. 2 questions in, asks for my home post code. Uninstalled.
  • (2019-05-18) sergio antelo: alguien me puede ayudar [email protected]
  • (2019-01-21) Zsolt Náday: I don't line in the UK, and I don't remember any British political ad.
  • (2019-01-08) Aleksi Knuutila: Who Targets Me seems like a solid piece of software. At first I wondered why it is requesting the right to read all websites, but looking at the code (openly available on Github), it's obvious that it focuses only on traffic to and from Facebook, and promoted ads specifically. I will be helping WhoTargets.me collect data from the Finnish elections. The information it gives me about what kinds of ads I see looks really interesting, I'm looking forward to having that information at hand.
  • (2018-11-09) Matt Combes: I installed this because of the supposed points I was going to get from YouGov. Just had to run it through the election, they said, and then I'd bank like 7500 points. And here it is, November 8, and still nothing. I'm going to go ahead and uninstall. This extension isn't nearly as bad as the other one YouGov had me install (Facebook Political Ad Collector), but still pretty disappointed. Thanks for nothing, YouGov.
  • (2018-04-19) András Őri: Hetek óta fut és semmit nem csinál.
