What is Blurby?
Blurby is a privacy-first Chrome extension for anyone who records or shares their screen—developers on calls, educators, creators, and teams. It automatically finds common sensitive patterns in the page (tokens, cards, emails, IDs, and more) and applies an on-screen blur so viewers see less risk with zero extra production work.

Who it’s for
• Live coding, demos, and tutorials where API keys or connection strings might appear
• Sales and support calls when CRM or billing data could slip into view
• Remote interviews, webinars, and async Loom-style recordings
• Everyday browsing when you want a quick “privacy mode” before you share

How it works (answer-first)
Turn protection on, choose what categories matter in Settings, and Blurby scans the page using fast, local pattern matching—no uploads to a server, no cloud OCR, no account. Adjust blur strength, toggle categories (personal, financial, developer, forms, optional content filters), and use the corner widget or keyboard shortcut to switch protection on and off.

Key benefits
• Local processing in your browser—sensitive page content is not sent to Blurby for analysis
• Broad coverage: emails, phone numbers in many formats, addresses, payment and tax identifiers, passports/licenses, crypto addresses, JWTs and common API key shapes, meeting links, password fields, and more (enable per category)
• Built for real workflows: floating status widget, keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+P / Cmd+Shift+P on Mac), and synced preferences across Chrome profiles via Chrome storage
• Fine-grained control: full Options page for categories; popup for quick intensity and status

Frequently asked questions
Q: Does Blurby use AI or send my screen to the cloud?
A: No. Detection is pattern- and rule-based in the extension, and blurring happens in the page on your device.

Q: Will it catch everything sensitive?
A: No automated tool is perfect. Blurby reduces accidental exposure; review what’s on screen for your compliance needs, especially for highly custom or proprietary data.

Q: Can I use it offline?
A: Core blurring works without sending data to external services; you still need the pages you’re viewing to load as usual in Chrome.
