After months of testing, Claude in Chrome is now available in beta. Major updates since launch:
- Claude Code integration: Build in terminal, test in browser—Claude Code and Chrome extension work together seamlessly
- Record a workflow: Easily teach Claude your workflow and Claude learns the steps.
- Scheduled tasks: Set recurring browser workflows that run automatically on your schedule
- Planning mode: Approve Claude's plan once, then let it execute independently until complete
- Multi-tab workflows: Claude works across multiple tabs simultaneously—drag tabs into Claude's tab group
- Console logs: Claude reads errors, network requests, and DOM state for debugging

YOU'RE IN CONTROL
Pre-approve actions that Claude can take on websites before you start working. Review Claude's approach once, then let it run. Claude will still ask before taking certain irreversible or potentially harmful actions, like making a purchase.
For Team & Enterprise plans, admins have controls in place to enable/disable the extension org-wide, and an allowlist and blocklist for approved sites.
GETTING STARTED
1. Subscribe to any paid plan
2. Install this extension
3. Sign in with your Claude credentials
4. Open sidebar and describe your task (or record your workflow to teach Claude)
5. Grant permissions when prompted
USE SAFELY
Browser AI can encounter prompt injection—hidden instructions on websites that attempt to hijack Claude's actions. We've built defenses and tested extensively, but recommend these practices:
Start with trusted sites: Grant permissions to familiar websites first
Review sensitive actions: Always confirm before Claude handles financial, personal, or work-critical tasks
Report unexpected behavior: Help us improve by flagging issues through feedback options

- Very unreliable. No consistent behaviour. Now for past few weeks, it just does some analysis, and then no output text. No errors for that too. They just keep adding slop after slop via their own claude, to all of their products, instead of giving a consistent bug free experience.

- 1. Deletes site data and signs you out of Chrome 2. Cannot perform simple tasks, I genuinely do not know a use case for this other than breaking Chrome

- it helped me write an awesome tampermonkey script that required vision, very cool. One Problem: It deletes the complete chat if you close the sidebar and you can't get back to it. So that should be fixed.

- The whole Claude platform is a mess. Despite being on a paid plan I only get maybe 20mins worth of work. I find I get a lot more done on Perplexity and ChatGPT and I'm working in the free version of those. Until Claude figures out the whole usage thing spend your money and time elsewhere if you want to be consistently productive. (BTW I'm an old retired guy who uses it for retirement budgeting and such so not by any means a pro....I just learned how to spell AI :))

- Extension is unusable if you have both a Free and Team plan on the same email address. The extension login flow always defaults to the Free plan regardless of which plan you select during authentication. I've tried everything: fresh Chrome profiles, clearing all cookies and cache, uninstalling/reinstalling the extension, logging into the Team plan in the web UI first then installing the extension, using email login instead of Google SSO. Nothing works. The web UI org switcher works fine — the extension just ignores the selection. I've even tried deleting the Free plan entirely to eliminate the conflict, but the account deletion page says I need to contact support. I've submitted multiple support tickets begging to have the free plan account deleted - the oldest is now a week old with no response. This is a known bug with multiple open GitHub issues and no fix. I'm paying for a Team plan specifically to use features like this extension with Cowork, and it's completely broken for my account configuration. Would change my rating if this gets fixed, but right now the extension is non-functional for multi-plan accounts and support is unresponsive.

- Great extension to use with Claude! I've seen it get better over the month I've been using it. Only wish is I wish it was a little faster and intuitive, but it'll come with time.

- I used the Claude browser extension today to do some email research. It was taking a good amount of time and credits, and I even had to add API funds so that it could continue working. Unfortunately the agent simply stopped working and didn't provide the requested information. So essentially I wasted a few hours and $25 in credits with ZERO results. Not cool.

- After subscribing I spent 8 hours trying to connect it to google drive only after to be told - "You’ve hit your limit for Claude messages. Limits will reset at....." then that ....."I know this is incredibly frustrating and I'm really sorry. Here's the blunt truth: This is a confirmed bug with Claude's Google Drive connector. You've done everything right. It just isn't working right now. Your best options at this point: Report it to Anthropic — go to support.claude.ai and log it as a bug. This is a real issue that needs fixing on their end......." ...so THEY KNOW IT DOES NOT WORK..... yet still charge and REFUSE a refund .....aaaarrrggghhhhhh it is like being at the Dentist !!!!

- Might work but it's impossible to know because the token limit just stops you from completing tasks. It also blocks actual Claude usage so if you ask this extension to do anything, you can't work on Claude for other purposes because your tokens will burn through a session limit in minutes. In my case, simply creating an extension to block a specific HTML element exhausted my session limit in about 90 seconds. Want to follow up to fix an issue? Wait 5 hours with a broken experience in the meantime. Stay away if you don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on this monthly. This is nagware.

- Terrible... Doesn't work at all in Vivaldi (Which uses Chrome exteniton store). Just shows a blank page, that's it... Logged in, removed, reinstalled, nothing changes at all.

- I hope it was faster. I noticed lots of issues when I tried the first time, but is getting much better. Can wait to see the how this tool evolves. The release note for claude in chrome extension is not working, would be nice to keep track or the updates.

- I am unable to even log into Claude with my pro account. Every time I click on the login link it takes me to the sign up page. Useless at this point, spent two hours trying to get help but no success.

- Great in theory. In practice, there's a number of quirks. Session history for a webpage not being maintained is a big pain point -- easy to hit close and lose your work. Also wish thinking trace was visible

- Needs help, if you are using desktop, desktop has about a 40% chance of making this connect to the browser. Kind of dumb really because 100% of most people's work is in the browser. Claude should automatically connect to browsers if allowed. That all it needs is to be granted permission, the Claude app should already have the chrome extension. I've been in software for 30 years and this is the reason I rated it 1, don't ficin ship software that doesn't work.
