Not every website has as good a search engine as Google's. For example: if you are a developer, you might have noticed that sometimes you are better off searching your queries with Google than in StackOverflow.com by using site:stackoverflow.com feature on Google. But why type the whole domain everytime if you can do it in just 3 letters :) ?
