Free and fully encrypted password manager to keep your logins and passwords safe.
Free and unlimited password manager to keep your login credentials safe and manage them directly in your browser.
Get the password manager created by the former scientists who met at CERN behind Proton Mail, the world’s largest encrypted email provider. Proton Pass is open-source, end-to-end encrypted, and protected by Swiss privacy laws.
Pass offers more than other free password managers and has no ads or data collection. You can use it for free forever on all your devices to create and store unlimited passwords, autofill logins, generate 2FA codes, create email aliases, secure your notes, and more.
* Protect your logins and their metadata with battle-tested end-to-end encryption
While many other password managers only encrypt your password, Proton Pass uses end-to-end encryption on all your stored login details (including your username, the website address, and more).
* Audit Pass’s open-source code
Like all other Proton services, Pass is open source and built on the principle of trust through transparency. As scientists, we know that transparency and peer review lead to better security. All Proton Pass apps are open source, meaning anyone can verify our security claims for themselves.
* How can Proton Pass be free forever?
We offer Pass for free because everyone deserves online privacy and security. This is possible thanks to our supportive community on paid plans. If you would like to support our work and get access to premium features, consider upgrading your plan.
* Protect more than just your passwords.

- (2024-12-01) Ronald Zia: Biometric unlock is standard and basic function of a password manager and Proton still couldn't implement this function really makes me wonder if Proton is capable of developing this at all.
- (2024-10-29) Patrik Martinko: Best password manager. They listen for feedback.
- (2024-10-28) Baptiste Nouailhac: Simple et marche très bien.
- (2023-11-26) Vikram Maran: Has some gaps in it's auto-save flows, especially on new account creation where proton pass itself generates the new account password.
- (2023-11-16) Ray Beauregard: Good for now. Still lacks a number of features that are available in other PMs.
- (2023-11-12) Ian Hewerdine: I have recently migrated from 1Password 7 because the browser extensions finally stopped working. 1Password definitely had more utility and better usability than Proton Pass does right now. It was better at saving new logins, better at dealing with login forms with more than just two (username and password) fields, and able to autocomplete card payment information. But I have high hopes for increasing the number of stars for this review. Proton Pass already allows me to see "most recent" logins, something Bitwarden failed to prioritise for years. I would have been a paying Bitwarden user a year ago, but here I am with Proton Pass because they seem to value a decent user experience.
- (2023-11-09) Digi Sketched: Switched from being a long time LastPass user, and we all know why anyone would switch from there. Proton Pass is not perfect and doesn't have as many features as BitWarden or 1Password, YET, but it's continually adding features and I'm fine with them taking their time to develop the new features securely. I enjoy everything so far and LOVE the aliases. I just need credit card auto-fill, addresses + auto-fill, and the ability to upload images in secure notes and I'll be set.
- (2023-11-02) Mugugno Genovese: Not bad. IMHO is missing: - desktop app companion - Roboform import support (I am manually importing more than 200 logins) - Check of password strenght / reuse / overall security.
- (2023-10-28) Michael Gremillion: Exceptional in a lot of ways, areas to grow in others. It has a lot of polish to go. It needs to get better on passwords created, then saved. Fantastic sharing with others. Easy to use even when it doesn't detect the right entry fields. Can't wait to see where it goes in the future.
- (2023-10-24) Caleb McDonald: I'm currently migrating from 1Password to ProtonPass, as I was already a ProtonMail+VPN user, and now being able to have them handle by passwords, in addition to email aliases management built-in is a game changer! They are very determined to listen to the community and implement new features often. Highly recommended.
- (2023-10-12) Richard Scholten: Easy to use, works as intended and expected. Need some further features like generating a password on the fly in a password field etc.. But in general a good alternative to LastPass.
Hodaka Sato: Best browser extension password manager I've used.
- (2023-10-04) Mostafa Moghaddam: White theme please, I can't see anything!
- (2023-10-01) Calum Spring (Cal): Best browser extension password manager I've used. Way less hassle than the alternatives.
- (2023-09-28) Manuel Bozzetti: Once the browser is closed, the extension does not automatically logout, so the safe always remains open
- (2023-09-26) Evan Viguié: Way better than any password manager I've tries, and it's Proton.
- (2023-09-26) Cenon Manansala (Cee): This password manager would be ideal if it allowed me to delete all my passwords at once, enabling me to import a list of my updated passwords.
- (2023-09-26) RONALD RIDLEY: Best password manager I have used. Love the way it lets me hide my real email when signing up to websites!
- (2023-09-25) Brian Rohlman: simply the best, better than all the rest!
- (2023-09-24) Christer Solvik: Been using Proton Pass for a few weeks as of writing. So far I'm liking it a lot. Can recommend!
- (2023-09-24) Zack Baxter: Most useful password manager I've used! Can create emails for different services and stores the different sites your login works on!
- (2023-09-23) Anonymous: Proton Pass honestly took a lot of stress away from me, feeling tracked all the time by companies(Google). I have Proton Pass Plus, and it's been the best thing I've ever bought. I can create unique Emails and the password manager makes life so much less stressful, I highly suggest this to EVERYONE! It's worth it. Some sites slammed me into being able to only use Google Authenticator. For example, NCSoft.com.
- (2023-09-19) Nisutec: For the early stage of the extension, it works really great.
- (2023-09-19) Troy Hemsley: Great start for Proton, but there can be some great improvements that I think will greatly help all users. > Add a web panel through the chrome extension that allows more room to manage my passwords. > Differentiate between accounts for the MFa tools. Have ran into a situation where a site I have two logins. Could be logging into Account One and it'll display Account One's 2fa code for me, but using Account Two causes Account One's 2fa code to appear despite logging into Account Two. Overall, a fabulous password manager, which also can be further improved.
- (2023-09-19) Mihail Costea: Works well for both passwords and notes! A feature I know they are working on and it would be good to have as soon as possible is auto-fill for card data.
- (2023-09-18) Merlijn: Promising but it lacks some must have features: 1. The ability to match a website on subdomain only. Currently if I add a website a.example.com to some credentials it will also show up for a login on b.example.com. This is a sensible default but in many corporate environments you are dealing with different credentials for different subdomains. 2. keyboard shortcut to autofill instead of mouse I just strongly prefer it. I do absolutely love the email alias feature. No more need to pay separately for something like firefox relay.
- (2023-09-17) INรTATheNinjaTezzy: better than dashlane
- (2023-09-16) Lewis: Exceptional app. Great security. Convenient. Easy to use. Much easier than previous password manager and more features to come according to the roadmap.
- (2023-09-14) Nathan Peeples: Great extension and sync's very well with phone app.
- (2023-09-13) Petro Gorobchenko: Fantastic tool, love how simple and easy to create new aliases and associate them to new logins. Would be great if we can attach files though.
- (2023-09-13) Row Dyer: Very Very good, only a few websites dont have the popup working (notably icloud.com), which can be annoying, but overall. Its abosolutely amazing
- (2023-09-13) RCode Technologies: Awesome password manager! I am only a bit concerned by security: it lacks the option to choose the extension with a password instead a PIN (16 characters passwords > PIN). Last adding way less important, though as macOS user it would be nice to include touch id to enter password on website - like Apple does with their Keychain
- (2023-09-13) Rolando Garcia: I really want to like this, but as of right now it's literally unusable for me because of one setting. The way this extension is displayed is tied to chrome's font settings, so if you have your font set to anything higher than default on chrome the extension becomes visually too big and squished in to actually use; you aren't able to select logins at a sign-in screen because they're not displayed properly. Please fix
- (2023-09-11) Daniel D.: Really great Service. finally a provider I can trust
- (2023-09-11) Alisa: Simple and easy to use. So far best app for me!!
- (2023-09-10) Jean Gautier: Très bonne extension! Continuez à ajouter des fonctionalités !
- (2023-09-10) Remi Gautier: First version is __very__ promising and almost on par with other extensions that have been around for years. Roadmap is great so this will evolve with great new functionalities! User experience is fantastic! Way to go Proton! You'll champion this field soon!
- (2023-09-09) Loetwiek: Could use some work here and there, but I am already loving it.
- (2023-09-09) Romain Basset: I use it since the beta and it improves rapidly. I like where it is going and the level it already achieved.
- (2023-09-09) Mysneach Nelyri (Nim): I stand by my overall statement: it's OKAY. In fact, Proton Pass works pretty decently for being brand new. That said, it is very late to the Password-Manager space, and right now it lacks a lot of the features and general usability of other PMs. First, I'll quickly mention a few things that I know Proton has already announced will be added by the end of the year, but that aren't currently in the build. These include password sharing (and hopefully a family plan, but that hasn't been announced), a web app, and a desktop app. These will drastically improve usability and make it more feasible to use over another PM. Now here are the issues I still have (keep in mind that I use Brave, not Chrome, but given that Proton is meant for people who care about security I feel like they should be planning for that.): 1. Assuming that users want either a Username OR an Email in the "Username" slot, when most sites use the Username for in-site content but still want you to use Email for logging in. Give us both an Email and Username field in the default Login entry and train your screen-reading code to identify and fill them separately. Fixing this would actually put Proton Pass ahead of other PMs too. 2. Not saving a generated password immediately. Other PMs have this issue too, where you generate a password, assuming the PM will remember it, then save the account settings, only to find out that the PM did not actually save the password and now you have no idea what it is. This is the WORST issue to have, and the quickest way to make someone hate the PM. What's worse, while Proton Pass does try to detect when a new account has been made, with the "Save this Login?" popup, it fires off significantly less frequently than 1Password's, and only AFTER you go to the next page, no longer able to change the password. If passwords were saved like, for example, Proton Pass' email aliases, where they save immediately after creation and are then attached to a login, you'd never lose a password into the abyss. I can only hope that the developers figure that out before I get tired of manually making logins and give up. 3. The screen-reading and form-reading is subpar. I get that they are reinventing the wheel, and I don't expect them to be as advanced as say, Roboform, but Proton Pass will have to catch up to at least 1Password and Lastpass before anyone is going to be satisfied with the performance. Sure, we love Proton's other features, but that love alone doesn't mean we are willing to accept low-performing password protection, especially when it isn't included in the Proton Family Pass. I know that sounds entirely negative, but I did give three stars instead of one for a reason. For one, the design is clean and simple enough to understand and use. I'm experienced in PMs and have tested many, however, so I can't say how well a new user would take to it, but I can say it's it the upper bracket in the market in UX design. Being able to add your own fields in Logins, as well as notes, is a feature I use frequently in 1Password and one I'm glad to see in Proton Pass. I wish there were more types of these custom fields, but having them at all is fantastic. Of course, native inclusion of email aliases in Proton Pass is fantastic. Those who haven't experienced something like Ironvest or the 1Password+Fastmail integration will be blown away by how effective email aliasing is in helping to make email usable again; keeping spam at bay and giving control back to the users. That said, a little better explanation on how to "attach" email aliases to Logins while onboarding would be a good thing. Still, this feature is absolutely the biggest selling point. I'm keeping Proton Pass, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to 1Password just yet. After the next few updates--probably four or so months, I think I'll decide. I really love the idea of converting everything to Proton, especially since cross-integration between their products is becoming more prevalent, but, like I said, password protection is something that should be taken seriously, and I, at least, am not going to risk that just because I like the company.
- (2023-09-08) Stian Eriksen: The app is ok, but it is so slow that it is almost unusable. It takes 10-15 seconds to get the extention to respond so I can type in the pin, then it takes about the same to show me the login information.
- (2023-09-08) Diego Guerrero: Great product! Love Proton.
- (2023-09-08) Sami Arpiainen: Good one. Needs an option to ignore pages so that it doesn't ask to save login next time you visit the page
