• (2018-12-07) Andreas: Just check if adb works in command line first. Once it does, this app works just fine. Many users down-rate this app because of connectivity issues with adb (which isn't the Apps fault), backup issues (which is often OEMs fault - looking at you, Sony) or limitations relative to root enabled backup (which is what it is - if you have root, use something else). Helium just provides an easier way to do adb backups and it does it well, but don't expect any magic beyond the limitations of adb.

It gets stuck on the "turn on USB PTP mode", did that, restarted phone, did everything I could, tried turning it on and off repeatedly, nothing happened, the app simply wouldn't connect to either the browser helium extension OR the windows version. TL;DR waste of time, do not install this abandonware.

• (2018-04-04) wolfgang lawrence: same as rest: win10+chrome and android latest in 4/18. i got my moto g5 to connect after installing driver and helium backup plugin to chrome, listed haf of my apps that on a good day it would be unable to backup at all (so if app worked it would amount to a 50% solution), then it bombed out totally when it tried to run the backup 6-7 different times. doesnt work. need 95% solution. and finally after installing this and that, new drivers, rebooting, trying to figure it out, it turns out hidden in the fine print i found it doesn't work at all with motorola devices. thanks for not putting that note front/center in bold red. you suck for not doing so.

My backup password is blank, yet it keeps asking for the password; so the upload to Google Drive fails. Really disappointing because I need to factory reset my phone. For ADB installation,I followed : https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/ Connect phone to PC via a USB DATA cable, then test from PC command line using : adb devices This must show device and then you must allow access from your phone. If device isn't connected via ADB, this APP won't work, so don't blame developer. Launch APP on your PC and Phone. Follow instructions on your phone and ensure you successfully enable USB Debugging (through Settings=>Developer Options(if you don't have it, click 7 times on Build Number in About Device) and PTP. If you don't enable these, the PC to Phone connection won't be made. It should then connect. Through no fault of developer, some phone apps don't allow it access. Otherwise this app works well.
