Tab Video Timer adds helpful playback info and controls to every site—without tracking you.

What it does
- Time left in tab title (VOD): see remaining time at a glance—even in the background.
- Live elapsed in tab title: count-up for YouTube/Twitch live streams.
- Quick Mute/Unmute: one click mutes all media on the page (works across iframes).
- “Finished” banner: optionally keep a Finished notice in the title as long as you want (including Forever).
- Per-site controls: enable/disable the timer, and choose whether to show “Finished” on specific sites.

- Live timer with fallbacks to handle tricky players/DVR quirks.
- Cross-frame mute for embeds and iframes.
- Smart popup: shows No media and disables Mute when nothing’s playing.

How to use
1. Install and pin the extension.
2. Open any page with video or audio.
3. Watch the tab title (VOD countdown or LIVE count-up).
4. Click the icon → Mute to mute/unmute all media.
5. Open Options to tweak titles/prefixes, Finished hold (including Forever), and per-site settings.

Shortcuts
Set in chrome://extensions/shortcuts:
- Mute active tab
- Enable/Disable on this site

Privacy
- No tracking. No analytics. No ads.
- Runs entirely in your browser.
- Settings can sync via Chrome Sync (optional) and never leave your Google account.

Permissions explained
- Storage: save settings and per-site preferences.
- Tabs: read the current tab’s URL/host to apply per-site rules.
- Scripting: detect/control media elements to update the title and mute audio.

Compatibility
- Works on most HTML5 players (video & audio).
- Some DRM/custom players may limit detection; the extension falls back gracefully.
