Description from extension meta

A Chrome App to bring Draft to your Desktop.

Image from store Draft
Description from store This is a Chrome App that wraps around Draft (https://draftin.com/), an online application to help you write better. Why a Chrome App when Draft is already available from a web browser? Because a Chrome App + Chrome's App Launcher adds a few extra niceties to Draft that you can't get just from your browser. For example, you can now access Draft from OSX's Spotlight and CMD+Tab. Note: This is still Draft in online mode. You can fool with offline Draft in Settings->Labs, but this is still predominantly the online version of Draft, just wrapped in a Chrome App.

However I found the ability to organise documents in folders really useful for sorting novel chapters, and just the overall feel of the app was very nice. Sometimes it took me a little to figure out how to use a certain feature, but I think I got most of it down pat. I just hope the back up system is good, because I really want to keep using this app. Edit: I'm having difficulty deleting a folder. I could delete the documents within it just fine, but when I go to delete the folder nothing happens.

  • (2016-08-27) Scott Cheatham: I have used draft for a few years now and really like it. Nate Kotny who developed the site is very responsive to questions you have and if you pay to use it (Like I do), even more so. It's worth the annual fee to have a distraction free writing device that is cloud based, has multiple options, and allows import of what you write on the fly. Not too many bells and whistles but just enough added to make it worth your investment if you write frequently. I'm a teacher and college professor along with other jobs I have. I use multiple folders to identify documents I have, can post from anywhere, and 'free write' whenever I please. I'm putting a doctoral dissertation together and have been importing text from draft as I go when the mood strikes. Thanks Nate for developing a worthwhile tool for writers.
  • (2016-07-30) Corey Greenberg: This is by far the best writing tool for Chromebook. If like me you have plain text Markdown files in Dropbox so you can edit from any platform there is, Draft outperforms everything else in the Chrome store. Forget the rest, this is the one. Install it, sync it to your Dropbox, and your search is over.

  • (2016-02-08) causticfish “causticFish”: I was super excited to see one of my favorite writing sites, have its own app! I've been using its browser equivalent for a long time for mostly original stories, and I like how it's easy it is to create documents, and browse through them. It's a good alternative to rich text based editors, and hey I like that it's saved online, so when the computer crashes the work doesn't disappear entirely. Sometimes formating gets botched up when you export it, but overall I've had a good experience. Seriously everyone, it literally takes three seconds to use your mouse to resize it, and you can easily exit out of anything through processes under your task manager.
  • (2015-12-23) Wow! This works so well in so many ways. I suspect that the people who don't like it don't understand it. I've been using it for several different kinds of writing and it works for everything from an email to an essay.
  • (2015-01-13) Mladen Pavlovic: Great tool for editing.:)
  • (2015-01-10) Gage Peterson: Pretty awesome! When it works it works well! However it doesn't always work with some rich text editors like the one used by my school. One little thing is that it saves everything you end up editing with it, which is a bit annoying to me but may not be for most people. Maybe a nice "Temp" editing? or even automatically putting these in a folder? hard to say the best way to handle it but that's my pet peeve.
  • (2015-01-06) Yating Maggie Kuo: well designed responsive web app.

  • (2014-12-06) T.R. Wolfe: NO idea why this is getting such stupid 1-star reviews. People: read a bit about what you're installing. Worst mistakes of your life? Are you for real? This is a great writing application with a good number of options. I LOVE this.

Writing in markdown has been a great experience. Disclaimer: I am a paid user of Draft. Draft is free. I like it so much that I pay the monthly subscription price of $3.99 to support the product.

  • (2014-06-19) Brian Fay: I write from a Chromebook and having this on my shelf is very, very useful. I like too that it opens in fullscreen mode so that it's just my writing and the shelf below. Phenomenal. Thank you.
