The intention of this extension is to enable you to prove the integrity of a screenshot from the time of its inception by hashing it and storing the hash on the blockchain immediately upon screen-capture. Anyone can subsequently verify that the screenshot has not been altered from the moment of screen-capture by re-hashing the image and validating the hash against the hashed blockchain record.
For example, if you capture a screenshot to use as evidence, you can send it (e.g. via email) to a third party (e.g. law firms, enforcement agencies, etc). If they also have the extension installed, they can independently validate that you have not tampered with the screenshot, ensuring that the authenticity and integrity of the screenshot has been preserved.
The screenshot itself is not stored on the blockchain; only the hash of the screenshot image is recorded on the blockchain. No data about the user is captured or recorded.
This extension uses Stability's public cryptoless blockchain, the Global Trust Network (GTN), as the blockchain layer. The GTN has no cryptocurrency dependencies and you do not need any crypto to use this extension. This extension is free for you to use.
