• (2025-07-01) Dave Larsen: I use this almost daily. It works as promised and it helps me keep my subscriptions under control. I can "pause" and "unpause" credit cards when I need to. You can use it to categorize your purchases and set up virtual credit cards that automatically expire after the 30 day trial period is over. Overall, it's very handy!

Generating virtual cards for my purchases is super easy, and it gives me peace of mind knowing my real card info is safe. The only issue I’ve run into is that about 1 in 10 times, a store won’t process the card. But overall, the security and convenience are totally worth it. I highly recommend this extension for anyone who shops online!

• (2025-05-05) Jean Felisme: Hands down, the best product/app I use. None of my bank cards are being used, and this protects you from unwanted purchases. I called and canceled a service provider and got a confirmation. Next, I used Privacy to put a pause on the card that was being used for that provider. A few weeks later, I got a notification from privacy that the service provider was trying to charge me. Imagine the fight and stress of trying to get your money back, and this prevents them from touching it. When I contacted the service provider, they said, "Oops! We will make sure that doesn't happen again." The extra features, like sitting monthly or transaction limits, are a godsend, especially since prices are rising. It helps me control my spending and lets me think about whether I still need specific services.
• (2025-04-24) Todd Berman: Almost never use a bank issued card anymore. Privacy is quick, intuitive and has better protection than bank cards. I use the cards for pretty much every online purchase and have never had an issue. Can't believe there was online life before Privacy.

Privacy creates a virtual credit card for each vendor website which is not valid anywhere else. So if anyone steals the number, it's useless to them. Privacy also gives me complete control over each vendor site with spend limits and pauses. I never have to appeal to my credit card company because I'm in control, not the vendors. I wouldn't shop online without it.

• (2025-02-24) Tony Maher: Privacy is so clutch. I do online transactions through many different services like paying my bills, shopping, streaming, and other recurring subscriptions. I've had suspicious activity on my cards a couple different times, and some credit cards have refused to reimburse me the fraudulent activity! Not only can it cost a ton of money if someone gets a hold of my credit card information, it is also an enormous pain to go update all those different places with a new card. Privacy allows me to set up a vendor-locked digital card for every different place I need a card, or a one-time card that will never be able to be used again - meaning I limit the possible impact of my information being leaked. Not only that, but they also provide spending limits so even if someone gets my card information AND happens to use it at the correct vendor, they won't be able to spend my money! No one should be putting their credit card information anywhere online unless they use Privacy!

I would love to see a feature that provided a virtual ACH account, so I would be able to shield my routing/account number from utilities that don't accept credit cards.

You can use the card one time, set transaction limits, set a max limit, there isn't basically anything this site can't do. As someone who has ADHD, this is really helpful for those reoccurring transactions that you somehow always seem to forget to cancel; this has been great for free trials you may always sign up for and forget to cancel.

My short time so far using it has already saved me a lot of money and trouble including a stolen card number from my contacts merchant. I'm now a subscriber as these guys have become absolutely worth it. I use this chrome extension and safari extension. Works well and makes it very easy handle card entries.

I've used Privacy for over 5 years, and I can't imagine life without it now. There's no greater feeling of freedom than being able to create cards on-the-fly for individual purposes with specific rules/limitations and not have to worry about using my real debt or credit cards online. Aside from the security aspect, the convenience aspect is incredible, as well. The browser add-in can autofill many checkout fields automatically! Since, it's called "Privacy", it's also no surprise that the improvement to personal privacy is great! When producing bank statements for things like mortgages, I don't have to worry about some random person reading through all my bank transactions because 95% of all my transactions just say, "Privacy.com". Freaking awesome! I cannot recommend this service and extension enough.

• (2024-10-07) Kent Fuge: I have been looking for the functionality that is provided by privacy.com for a couple of years. When I heard about privacy.com I started using it and have been very happy with the service. In fact my only complaint is that they aren’t adding features fast enough (virtual debit cards as opposed to virtual credit cards is the next feature I hope they add soon). It has already saved me several hundred dollars and I have only been using it for 5 months. The comfort of being able to create a virtual credit card that I can cancel in a heartbeat, if a company tries to misbehave, is wonderful. I have used the virtual card capability to “try” a service or a subscription several times and once the initial charge goes through I can put the creation of new charges on pause. Then if I decide I like the service I can take the card off pause or completely disable the virtual card and never have to worry about being charged again. I love how I can limit the amount that is charged by a subscription service every month. This capability has helped me track and control my subscription expenditures more closely and I have already caught one subscription service trying to misbehave by charging me twice for a subscription in the same month. It takes some effort to get everything switched over but, I have converted everything I can to virtual cards. I can’t say enough good about how privacy.com has changed my financial routine for the better.

Set up a dedicated virtual credit card with a limited amount of funds when you sign up for a trial subscription you're not sure you want long-term. I turned to this after missing a "cancel my trial" date and getting dinged $120 for a subscription I don't want.

• (2024-08-01) Lynn Wolfe: GOOD BUT BAD - READ ALL The Privacy.com service itself is AMAZING. It is anything and everything that should be a stock feature of any bank account or credit card, but isn't. Bank accounts and credit cards will allow anyone with the numbers to charge you. You cannot decline transactions that shouldn't be coming through. In the event that your number is stolen or misused you have very little recourse for how to fix that/ charge back/ or stop it from happening again. Privacy.com SOLVES that 100%. With a unique card number and limit for each thing you purchase, there is NO CHANCE of misuse. Should a website be compromised and your data taken, you can simply turn that card off and make a new one. If you put a limit on the card (which you should to start with) even if they have it, it doesn't do them any good. This is the ONLY way that I would make a purchase online. Now, as far as extensions go, they are inherently unsafe and not privacy focused. I have not thoroughly read through privacy.com's terms of service or privacy policy, but I think it's safe to assume that our purchase data and stuff is tracked and probably sold like it is everywhere else. This isn't ideal, but it's worth the tradeoff to me personally. You'll have to make that decision for yourself. As others have mentioned below the permissions required for the extension are not ideal in the slightest. You are not required to use the extension to use the service. I would recommend not installing the extension and using privacy.com through a trusted VPN and a web browser with a privacy focus like Brave or Firefox.
• (2024-07-22) jay armstrong: Great service but... the extension won't work without allowing it to "read and change all your data on all websites". Quite ironic for a privacy-focused app, no? Most extensions work with the permissions set to "allow on click" but this one doesn't. 5 stars for their service, 1 for the extension.
• (2024-07-20) Paul Sybrandy: This service is great, even the free plan. Although I have had a couple issues in the past, they will work with you to resolve them which, to me, is very important when choosing a service or provider of a service that I plan to use long-term. Definitely recommend.
