Spider Solitaire: The Ultimate Card Game Experience
Spider Solitaire is a captivating and challenging card game that you can now enjoy offline as a Chrome extension, completely free of charge. Here’s what makes this game so engaging:
Objective
The goal of Spider Solitaire is to arrange all 104 cards into eight sequences, each running from King to Ace in the same suit. This requires strategic planning and skillful card management.
Setup
The game begins with two standard decks of 52 cards each, totaling 104 cards. These cards are dealt into 10 columns or piles, with the top card in each pile facing up and the rest facing down. The remaining cards form a stockpile for drawing new cards when needed.
Gameplay
You can move the topmost card of a pile along with any face-up cards below it that follow in sequential order and the same suit. You have the flexibility to leave some cards behind and break a sequence at any point. For instance, if a pile shows 4, 5, 6, 7, you can move the first one, two, or three cards as a unit, but you cannot move the 7 until the preceding three cards are removed. When all face-up cards in a pile are removed, the next card underneath is turned face-up and becomes available.
Key Moves
- A movable unit of cards can be placed either in an empty space or on a card of the next higher rank, regardless of color or suit. For example, if the bottom card of a unit is a Jack, it can be moved onto any of the four Queens.
- Only Kings can be moved into empty spaces, but any movable unit can fill these spaces as well.
- When no more productive moves are possible, you can deal a new row of ten face-up cards. However, before doing so, all empty spaces must be filled. The final deal consists of just four cards, which are placed on the first four piles.
