Replace new tab page with Anki flashcards
Make reviewing flashcards lighter and easier by integrating them on your browsing habits.
No more dreaded hour-long Anki sessions! AnkiTab gives you a selection of flashcards each time a new tab is opened, allowing you to mix in tiny chunks of card reviewing through the day, which leads to a more lightweight and productive learning.
Featuring built-in deck interleaving, which has been scientifically proved to improve the learning process [1][2][3][4].
The extension is totally open source and all the code is licensed under The Unlicense, which is extremely permissive. The code repository can be found at https://github.com/corollari/ankiTab.

- (2023-11-05) Oswaldo De Los Santos: I'm giving five stars because honestly it's a good extension and a very useful one that'd help me get back into languages, the only thing is that I need to have Anki constantly running in order for the new tab thing to work... which is my one big downside. But otherwise from what I've seen, it's an amazing bit.
- (2022-12-08) Khassim F: Great extension, I'd rate it 5 stars if dark mode was supported. It a hassle having to disable it in the evening then reenable in the am.
- (2021-07-29) YTBucket K: Excellent idea! It stops procrastination. Please add a donation link! BTW does keyboard shortcut work? (space bar & numbers 1, 2, 3 & 4)? Mine doesn't seem to respond to key presses.
- (2021-06-06) Britt V: Woah, just came across this and it's great! Thanks! I can echo that skip and undo would be nice, but I know you have to work with the platform you've got. You rock!
- (2021-03-05) Майкл Стоунбрідж: 5 stars
- (2021-02-10) farhan: thanks man!! this is wonderful... it will be better if you can add picture background in it, so it will seemed gorgeous.. But appreciate it
- (2021-02-01) Fa AZ: Depuis un moment, je cherchais un moyen d'avoir comme une sorte de pop up pour me forcer a reviser mes decks, cette extension est dans la meme idée, top ! Merci !
- (2021-01-27) Jan Lukas R.: Super cool, thanks so much for making this! I have a little issue with image occlusion cards, they are often very zoomed in and i need to decrease zoom level of the browser to ~50% to see all of it. All the best from Germany and thanks again! :)
- (2020-04-07) Todo Pertin: Super cool! The only downside is the ugly icon.
- (2019-01-30) Waring C: thank you,corollari
- (2019-01-15) Alex Swinton: Currently can't get this to work on my Chromebook with Anki installed as a linux app - I won't downrate as this is probably just user error, but even with ankiconnect installed and Anki running the extenstion doesn't update from the "Make sure that anki is running and ankiConnect is installed, ankiTab won't work otherwise." message
- (2019-01-07) Matheus Cardoso: the idea of creating an extension like this is very good! if it is possible to implement in the future: - review not restricted to a new window, but as a popup that was active at time intervals (5, 10, 20 minutes, etc.) - possibility to restrict the size of the images (currently, I need to resize the page to 80% to be able to see some images completely) (the extension is having errors: is not saving my options (decks that I marked to don't be shown) whenever I restart the browser all the decks are again selected) note: I have seen that after closing Chrome I have the error warning in the terminal: [19372: 19372: 0107 / 154628.120954: ERROR: x11_input_method_context_impl_gtk.cc (144)] X11InputMethodContextImplGtk :: SetSurroundingText (const base :: string16 &, const gfx :: Range &) [19372: 19395: 0107 / 154628.329467: ERROR: nss_util.cc (748)] After loading Root Certs, loaded == false: NSS error code: -8018 [19372: 19372: 0107 / 154629.115864: ERROR: CONSOLE (22)] "Gui review is not currently active.", Source: chrome-extension: //ihoaepdiibjbifnhcjoaddgcnfgjmjdk/libs/ankiConnect.js (22) QPainter :: end: Painter ended with 2 saved states [19372: 19372: 0107 / 154634.504640: ERROR: http_bridge.cc (126)] Not implemented in virtual void syncer :: HttpBridgeFactory :: OnSignalReceived () Despite the initial problems, I want to thank you very much for your effort in creating this extension!
- (2018-11-14) John Oleksowicz: This is such a great idea for a chrome extension. I can definitely see this making my reviews more manageable by spreading them throughout the day. Thank you so much for creating it! A couple of things that would make it even better for me specifically: - I'm in the habit of pressing enter to register a "good" response and would love to be able to do the same in chrome - Would be great to be able to undo an accidental response (not too hard to do by switching over to anki desktop, but still would be nice) - I have custom CSS for cards based on type of card. The only way I've found to do this is to write rules for .card and .card2, for example. It looks like this extension doesn't include the additional .card2 class. Thanks again!
- (2018-10-18) Rahul Choudhary: Cant use it Great.
- (2018-10-12) M.R. P: Good idea, I'm having issues though. #1 I'd like to be able to limit the cards per tab automatically. So it stops coming after I complete, say, 5 cards or so. It cannot (or I don't clearly see how) #2 Once I'd finished for the day it congratulated me, but now It's stuck on the Good job screen and it is not refreshing with the new day. If you don't catch that bug, or you don't have a lot of cards to go through, you'd probably have a 5/5 experience.
- (2018-09-11) m3 e92335i: Awesome Anki extension
- (2018-08-27) Michał Jaworek: Great work, thanks! I would love to see possibility to filter decks which are source of cards (I have some decks which I'm not really interested in at this moment)
