HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
- Download the extension and log into Monarch
- Make sure you are logged into your Amazon and/or Target account from the same browser, then connect to that retailer using the extension
- Your initial sync will include orders from the past three months
- Any orders that are matched to transactions in Monarch will be split and/or recategorized as needed
- You can choose to have a new sync occur every 24 hours to match and categorize any fresh orders
- Historical orders can be synced with a manual backfill from the extension settings
The extension currently works with Amazon and Target, with more retailers coming soon.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- While the extension currently supports Amazon US, we’ll be working on Amazon Canada soon.
- This extension uses AI to process receipt data and properly categorize transactions. No personally identifiable information is ever shared and the only information passed through is what is required to analyze the order itself (i.e. item name, merchant name, price and purchase date).

- Was great until a few weeks ago when it suddenly stopped working. Per FAQ attempted signing in and out of amazon and extension, removed and reinstalled extension, nothing was able to get it working again. Do not suggest using this and will have to go back to manually logging and categorizing in the future.

- Just got this set up after trialing Monarch as I wasn't thrilled with Rocketmoney ('twas a quick decision as Mint just up and closed down one day) and HOLY COW this could have saved my marriage! Lol just kidding but for real categorizing my amazon orders in Mint was a constant sore spot because I HATED doing it and he did the budgets. Welp, here's to smarter financial choices in the future! (Tip to my not-yet-married folks: do the three bucket financial system [yours, theirs, and ours bank accounts and have your own money and control of it]. Keep your job/a way to earn income. Keep learning/getting education. DON'T just be the Authorized user on your partner's credit cards/accounts, but have one or two where YOU are the main Account holder (so you don't have to open the same 4 over the course of a year after your divorce, like I did, and tank your credit score). Don't let yourself be swallowed up and "cared for" because learning all this stuff from scratch in your middle-age or later (assuming you don't get screwed over in the divorce/will) is embarrassing af.

- Not even sure how it's supposed to work. There are no extension settings that allow me to connect to my Amazon account. The instructions are horribly unclear.

- Never seems to work for me. I have to go through the whole process each time I want it to sync and then it is likely still not to work. It is also an inconvenient process. Nice idea, just not at all reliable. Monarch's support is appalling too. You have to wait a day, before getting a reply. That's the best they got, lol, - -smh - - appalling. I miss MINT.

- Hasn't worked for a month: Transaction Status says "Unmatched" for all my Amazon purchases, which are all just categorized in Monarch as "Shopping". Feels like a very-beta Extension that probably shouldn't be out in the world because it's so buggy.

- Works great and eliminated the most time consuming part of my monthly expense tracking. Includes a note with the details of the purchases and cost so it makes it easy to remember what I spent on. Would love to see Costco added next.

- Amazon and target have been consistently wreaking havoc on my budget, but this extension is amazing! In addition to splitting and categorizing purchases, it also drops links to your orders in the transaction notes, making it easy to review purchases. This is a great solution to what had become an intractable problem - I'm looking forward to finally getting some of this wildcard spending under control.

- When it works it is great, but it doesn't work most of the time. I spent a month of back and forth with Monarch's support and in the end they told me their bug is too hard to fix and they don't have a fix ETA for it :-/

- As far as I can tell this thing doesn't work at all. The screens and actions described in the help docs don't match reality. Nothing functions as it's supposed to. Except one thing, thank goodness: "Remove from Chrome". At this point that's the only button I need for this failure of an extension.

- Very convenient - if you have two separate Amazon logins for your partner, you can log-in and sync each account separately. I hope this will be automatic with future updates

- Worked nicely except for combining two items together. My order of four items was split into three transactions. A vitamin supplement and a pill organizer were combined into a single transaction under the medical category. Not a big deal, I just had to modify the splits. Time will tell how much a nuisance this becomes as more retailers are added. e.g. when Target is added next, each split may need to be scrutinized to make sure groceries and other items don't get mis-categorized. All-in-all, this extension will save time over trying to look at invoices and calculating tax for each item when splitting multi-item orders.

- I think Monarch has potential to be a one stop shop for simple personal budgeting however accounts that use a two factor authenticator (i.e. financial institutions) fail when syncing so unless you go in and update manually each time you open the app/website it really doesn't give you a full picture of your accounts.

- I just installed the Monarch Money Money/Retail Purchases extension. It worked like a charm! The accuracy with which Monarch categorized my Amazon Purchases was amazing. What i purchased is noted in the 'notes' section for the transaction. If you use Monarch Money, I highly recommend you install the extension.

- Cannot get it to work. Support said it won't work if I have over 180 transactions from the last 3 months. I uninstalled to try to get it to only sync new transactions and it just shows it Syncing and then stops. Frustrating - this would have been very helpful to me!

- If you want a budget tool, especially to replace Mint, you should use Monarch. And if you use Monarch and buy anything from Amazon, you should use this extension. Instead of all your Amazon purchases disappearing into "Shopping," or having to navigate Amazon's Byzantine system of orders to connect the dots, it brings the item description into the Monarch app as notes. It saves me so much frustration. Set it up once and it runs in the background.
