Transparent Standalone Images
Description from store

In Chrome all standalone image pages (for example, when you right-click and choose "View Image"), show their image on a white background. This is good for images that were created with the expectation that they would be viewed on a white background.

However, most people who take care with the images that they create don't make this silly mistake. With this add-on installed, you won't have to see that ugly white background behind your transparent images. Now your images will be rendered against the black background, making it easier to see where the transparency starts and begins.

This USED to work, but as of October 14th 2025, it no longer works. Would really really appreciate it if this extension can be updated. Please and thank you~

Found it on Reddit, and works fine. My only complaint is that it doesn't work on local images being drag-'n-dropped onto chrome to view it in a standalone tab. Something I've often done to get around Windows' horrible image viewer.

This extension works perfectly for viewing images from within the browser itself. However, I couldn't give five stars because it doesn't erase the white background from hard drive images dragged onto the browser.

Thanks, I couldn't tell what had happened, thought it was an issue with my own computer because googling it was giving me unrelated answers. Found this linked from a reddit post after searching for several minutes.

Hey, can you make it exclude google.com/* so the image previews in google graphics search doesnt have those high contrast chequered background? Otherwise everything is perfect!
