• (2025-05-16) J J: It says it blocks trackers, ads, cookies...etc but it doesn't list any type that is actually blocked. I want to see what's blocked. It doesn't have an element blocker setting either. I'm removing it.

I can't find ANYTHING that is clickable other than removing this extension and finding something else. The previous version was top notch. This one is garbage.

• (2025-02-27) Sri Todi: It seems that the extension is blocking recaptcha.net which is used on some sites, to prevent automation. When filling forms, this can cause the form submission to fail. There's no way to whitelist the URL, only to whitelist independent sites
• (2025-01-26) Suzy Creamcheese: Disconnect blocks Disqus, which powers the comment sections on the majority of web sites, and the new version has no provision to block or unblock specific trackers. In order to use Disqus, Disconnect must be totally disabled. What was once an indispensable add-on is now utterly useless. And for the geniuses complaining that Disconnect doesn't block ads, it isn't an ad blocker. It blocks trackers.

• (2025-01-18) John Smith: I don't know if this new update made the extension useless like some are claiming, but it sure did mess up the UI completely. No way to see any details on what the extension is actually blocking or doing. No way to disable the number on the icon that displays active blocks. I hate visual clutter pointlessly drawing attention to useless information. I don't need to know how many things are being blocked at any second. I use these blockers to minimize distractions, not to introduce new ones.

• (2025-01-09) Will Hurley (HurleybirdJr): This extension is basically useless now. As much as Manifest V3 sucks, castrating the app for the sake of V3 conformance without providing an alternative legacy version that maintained the useful features of the extension/labelling this as a "Lite" version (similar to what uBlock Origin did), it now offers very little reason to use this anymore :( Removing the useful functionality of this extension, and replacing it with no amount of granularity for which domains can be blocked makes this extension basically useless. Sometimes, the default filters (which cannot be changed in the new version) can break certain websites (captchas, SSOs, etc...) and without that level of granularity to toggle certain domains, it's impossible to use without compromising privacy (Ad Trackers, social media embeds, etc...). I'm a little saddened that the excuse for nerfing a perfectly good privacy extension was being "forced" by Google, because it wasn't the only path to choose. I won't be changing my review, nor will I be using this version of the extension until the features that made this extension even worth installing are restored, and I'll just use an older build instead.

• (2023-12-07) Marc Green: Just download the extension, and I'm amazed at all the stuff these websites are throwing at my PC. I have an adblock but this extension kills so much more. When I jump on my PC in the morning, I always scroll through Yahoo.com articles to see what's happening in the world. Doing that today, Adblock Plus killed killed 16 items and Disconnect killed over 600. Of that 38 were analytics request and 620 was content blocking from a site called Brightcove (https://www.brightcove.com/en/).
• (2023-08-29) J J: Wow! I can't believe how poorly Disconnect works, it didn't block most ads and banner garbage on Yahoo finance. Can't block manually either. No filters to add. Ublock Origin is the best. This extension should be banned. What a fraud!

It was no doubt given a great deal of thought and attention to detail during the planning phase and it was engineered and coded by professionals, or by a professional, one or the other. This is definitely one of the better Chrome extensions that I've used, and I have used a number of them, and I've even made a couple myself. Most extensions do not reach this level however, this is a good one and I highly recommend it.

I gave him a scare and got legal on the phone but and got him fired because he didnt want to tell me who he was so I just snaped a screen shootand went from there. this app thous is amazing for beginers and vets and better than lockdown privacy or nextdns.io/

I basically use the free version to block the "social media" scripts & plugins various sites use without doing it manually (as in uMatrix or advanced mode of uBO). I'm subtracting points because it's not very effective entirely on the goals they declare in the description, but it's a useful tool to keep alongside several other tools.
