This extension uses speech recognition technology, powered by Google, to convert speech from any source into text: the transcribing process. Then it translates the text from one language to another using the selected service.
You can use it for:
— 🎞️ Transcribing and translating livestreams, videos, calls, etc.
— 🎤 Transcribing and translating your speech for a livestream overlay in OBS (for livestreamers)
— 🖥️ Real-time computer-assisted translation (basically human translation)
— 📖 Practicing language learning by dictating the text and reading the translation
— 🔠 Creating translated subtitles or captions for videos or podcasts
— 👩💻 Creating a non-machine translation using the textual version of spoken words (called transcript)
— 👂 Enhancing accessibility for people with hearing impairments
The extension can be used on Android with Kiwi Browser. But please keep in mind that the extension is not designed for video translation on mobile devices and for mobile usage in general. You may experience some limitations and issues on Android devices, due to technical reasons. If you want to enjoy full functionality on mobile devices, please consider to fund the mobile app development. This will ensure that all features of the extension work correctly on mobile devices.

- I am a V-tuber and streamer, and this extension has truly helped me a lot because it allows my international viewers to understand the content I want to share. I think it’s the best and easiest-to-use app I’ve ever found. There is one thing I wish it could do: translate into multiple languages at the same time. For example, when I speak Chinese, I would like it to translate into both English and Japanese simultaneously. Right now, I can only translate into one language at a time, and even though I tried following the multiple-instance setup guide, it didn’t work for me. If the developers could add this feature, I believe it would be extremely useful for many different kinds of work

- It's easy to integrate with OBS, and it also has a subtitle function that transcribes and translates the audio in the live streaming overlay, allowing for voice communication. It also supports translation into non-standard languages, making it a truly fantastic extension. You can use it for free by writing a review. Each review you write will increase the number of free accesses to the extension. Font size and color can also be easily changed. It's compatible with Chrome and Edge, so you can use it in either. I actually tried using this extension, and it made communication with people overseas smoother. It's extremely useful for live streaming games with many participants from overseas. You can communicate with people all over the world. I highly recommend this extension.

- I am a middle and high school teacher. I love being able to use this in real-time to support my ELL students. It picks up all of my words, even when I am clear across the room. It helps by not having to type back-and-forth. It is quick. Using ctl-shift-+ to make the font larger has been soo helpful. Grateful for this tool!!!

- Once I got this set up, it's worked pretty well. As other have pointed out its not perfect but 70-80% of the time you can get the main idea of what is being discussed. I appreciate that it pretty quickly live translates everything being said on screen, and that it will alter it's wording presumably to suit context. That said, the short comings are the occasional times it translates a long string then immediately dismisses/disappears the text. All in all though, it's been a pretty convenient app. Not perfect but very functional. Cheers!

- the extension you made is really a great tool and helpful, it translates videos on YouTube lets say 70-80 % correctly, and it is near correctness to any language, and it would be a successful tool for live transcribing & translating on web stores in the future if there will be improvements. The issue i faced is that when I start the translation on YouTube it works for almost 2 minuets along then there is no more translations appear in the box, why is that happening? I'm sure that I've set everything appropriately but still there is no coming translation , and after that I restart the translation again and it works for 2 minutes then suddenly stops. What is the matter? Why it happened?

- This worked great! It caught on to what a V-Tuber was saying on a livestream with very good accuracy (I'd say 70-80%). I just wonder, may I ask why it is marked to handle things like "Personal communications - For example: emails, texts, or chat messages" and "User activity - For example: network monitoring, clicks, mouse position, scroll, or keystroke logging"? I am sure this is to make the extension work, but I am a bit concerned about keystroke logging and such.

- Followed the instructions, does not work at all. I press "start listening" and there's no text in the text box

- I installed Microsoft Edge developer just to make this work on VK videos to translate from Russian to English - spent hours doing troubleshoot to no avail. Everything checks as shown in the troubleshoot images but no text, none in the box, none in the pop-up window. I tried different apps and the ones that worked took a while to translate only a minute of an uploaded video - tts has come a long way but speech to text is in its early ages... Tried this on Micrsoft Edge 140 running on Linux Mint 21.1

- On Windows 11, Chrome keeps asking me to enable microphone access after I've already done it several times. This extension used to work for me on Windows 10. Why can't this extension be more like the "Real-Time Video & Audio Translation" by Byrdhouse? That one just works as soon as I install it, doesn't even ask for microphone access, it just asks you to login to your Google account. It's not free though (only 30 minutes of audio is free). I'm trying to watch a Twitch.tv video with French audio and translate it to English.

- The translation quality is terrible! I converted ChatGPT's responses to speech using Google TTS, then used SpeechTranslator for translation, and the probability of misheard words was extremely high! I tried slowing down the speech speed, lowering the pitch, and even experimented with both US and UK accents, but the results were still very poor! I believe this is an ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) issue – do you support custom ASR engines?

- There is no option to select which mic you want to use in chrome as shown in your screenshots. I can only allow microphone usage and thats all.

- Sadly, it doesn't work at all for me. On Opera GX, but for some reason the browser wasn't letting the "grant permission" box show up so I could give it permission. I went to comb through the troubleshooting section of their github to figure out what to do, where I found that the extension only works on Chrome or Edge as per one of the Dev's responses to a similar issue. A little disappointing, but such is life. Not all extensions are usable on all browsers. Leaving a 4 for my friend who is using it on his browser (Edge) and enjoying the hell out of it. One star off because it is a little temperamental for an extension, but it works for him more often than not. Don't play music and try to have it translate at the same time, it will confuse it even with stereo mixing on it seems.

- Why do I only get a sentence or two and then it stops translating and nothing appears in the translation box?

- I don't know what happened but the extension was capturing the audio input from the videos/ calls just fine. All of the sudden it stopped working. I checked the settings, did the steps so it would capture the audio from the stereo mix but it's still just capturing what is being said on my microphone instead of capturing what is being heard. If anyone could help, I would appreciate because this extension is really good.

- For whatever reason, it keeps trying to listen through the microphone instead of the system's output audio like other more sensible extensions (like Shazam). I cannot get it to work.

- It's really good! I truly appreciate it! I think it would be even better if the translation were more accurate, perhaps by using ChatGPT. Additionally, if the wording could be processed faster, that would be great! But overall, I really appreciate it!
